- This is Open week and on PaddyTalks Golf, we sit down with amateur golfer David Howard just weeks after he qualified for the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. A mechanic by trade until eighteen months ago, David has since won the 2025 East of Ireland Championship at Baltray and battled through Final Qualifying at Dundonald to book his place among the world's best.
We talk about the road to Dundonald, his father caddying for him, growing up in Cork, the realities of living with cystic fibrosis while chasing a career in professional golf, the strong Irish contingent heading to Birkdale alongside him, Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Darren Clarke, Tom McKibbin and Stuart Grehan and, as always, we close things out with the Candle-Lit Dinner scenario!
This episode also means something personal to us. Cystic fibrosis has touched our own family, and we'd ask you to take two minutes today to support the incredible work being done in this space.

From viral golf sketches to working with Tiger Woods, appearing on NBC and selling out theatres across Ireland, he's built a career by turning observations into unforgettable characters.
This episode was recorded after a round together at Lahinch Golf Club before we settled into Frawley's Bar for a proper conversation.
We talk about growing up in Mullingar, leaving a career in finance and sales to take a chance on comedy, the sketch that changed everything, meeting Tiger Woods, writing characters, getting swing advice from Pádraig Harrington and why golf continues to keep him hooked.
Whether you know Conor through his sketches, GAA characters or his live show, this is a conversation that goes well beyond the impressions.

In this episode we cover the origin of ApexGolf, an idea that first hit Barry back in 2022, stalled for years and finally came together in 2025 when he built and tested his own prototype before commissioning a full nine-month build. Barry breaks down the actual gap ApexGolf is built to fill. Not swing mechanics, but the 50 weeks a year between lessons where most golfers are left to guess, combining structured practice with physical conditioning rather than treating them as separate problems.
We also get into why Barry is adamant ApexGolf isn't trying to replace your PGA pro and why he deliberately doesn't want the app to feel like AI, even though AI is doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes.
If you think improvement is just about hitting more balls, this conversation will change your mind.
Whether you're a golfer looking to actually structure your practice, someone curious about the business of building a golf-tech product from scratch, or just enjoy watching someone put their own game on the line in public, there's plenty in this conversation for you.

In this episode we cover the origin of P2 Grips, a happy accident with a Scotty Cameron that turned into a proper golf equipment business. Enda breaks down the biomechanics of putting, specifically ulnar deviation and why quietening the wrists leads to better putter face control. P2 is one of the only putter grip brands backed by independent bio-mechanical testing from world-leading putting coach and biomechanics expert Dr Paul Hurrian.
We also get into Trident Align, the USGA-approved adjustable ball marker Enda invented after discovering he had a right aim bias. If you think alignment on the green is the easy part of putting, this conversation will change your mind.
Other topics: the PGA merchandise show debut in Orlando, a P2 grip on Michelle Wie's putter for her 2018 HSBC Women's World Championship win, the challenge of breaking into the tour truck world, and a teaser on an upcoming P2 x Seed Golf collaboration.
Whether you're a golfer looking to hole more putts, a coach interested in performance, or someone fascinated by building products from scratch, there's plenty in this conversation for you.

This week I sat down with Patrick Keeling, the 2026 Flogas Irish Men's Amateur Open Champion, plays out of Roganstown, currently on a golf scholarship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
He flew home on a Monday, teed it up on a Thursday, shot a course record 62 on the Friday and holed the winning putt on Sunday afternoon. His name is now on a trophy alongside Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley. Then he drove straight to Portrush the next morning and finished top ten at the North of Ireland. Some week.
We got into the full story and there is a lot in this one. The 62, the faith, Louisville, the family and a dinner table guest list you will not see coming.
In this episode:
⛳ The course record 62 and what was actually going on in his head as the numbers came up on the board
🙏 His faith in Christ and what it looked like standing over a 12 foot putt to win a national championship, including a parable from the Bible that has become his entire framework on the course
🇺🇸 The real story of adjusting to college golf in America, a broken wrist in year one, a rude awakening in competition and what Louisville has genuinely done to his game and his head
🏆 Sitting at the kitchen table with the Irish Amateur trophy and running his finger over those names
🏌️ Driving straight to Portrush the morning after winning and what it takes to reset when there is no time to breathe
👨👩👦 The Keeling family, brother Sean on scholarship at Texas Tech, sister Alanna competing at Grand Prix showjumping level
🍳 The sourdough, scrambled eggs and black pudding breakfast that won a national championship
