Today we transition from the familiar childhood stories in the book of Daniel to the more "adult" writing we call apocalyptic literature.
Often this transition intimidates people, and they sort of abandon ship because they think it's going to be too difficult. But not us here at She Walks Worthy, right? We are in it for the entire journey!
In this episode, I break the chapter down for you in bitesize pieces, which I think will make it easier to read and understand. (At least, that's my hope!)

Ohhhhhh, is this the one you've been waiting for? It's Daniel 6 for this episode of our Women's Weekly Bible Study. Maybe you just call it Daniel in the Lion's Den. Do you remember how old you were when you first heard this story?
Do you remember all the drama? There's jealousy, conspiracy, deception, espionage, dark night of the soul, vindication and retribution. Whew!! (The Bible is NOT boring!)
We take a peek into ancient history and learn who the Medes were, how Cyrus became great, the mystery behind Darius the Mede, a little bit about Medo-Persian law, and an interesting little tid-bit about Belshazzar.
Finally, we plug the story of Daniel into the bigger picture of the Bible and get one step closer to THE end of the story.

We reach the half-way point of the book of Daniel this week in our Women's Bible Study, and it's probably the most familiar story from the entire book. At least, it's probably the first story you learned in Sunday School from Daniel. That's right, we read about Daniel in the Lion's Den this week.
In an effort to combat the temptation to "skim" the familiar text, you'll find some study prompts in this episode that will help you pay close attention as you read.

Ep 140. Daniel chapter 5: The writing on the wall, the importance of being sober minded. (Women's Bible Study)
Can you read the writing on the wall? What does it tell you?
We have probably never experienced the supernatural event that King Belshazzar experienced, being given a divine message from a disembodied hand, writing a message of divine judgement for not JUST a moment of drunken bad decision making, but a lifetime of flying in the face of God.
But there probably have been times when we've "seen the writing on the wall," and thanks to passages like Daniel 5, we've been given the wisdom to understand God's warning. It's part of being sober minded. That's one of the big lessons from today's study.

I am here to help you learn to LOVE your Bible! You CAN learn to read it!! It is living and active, and it can be the best part of your day. This is a Bible Study for Women who have been believers for a long time, this is a Bible study for new Christians, this is a great Beginners Bible Study. This is a Bible Study for anyone who wants to know God more and love God more.
