The Now Word

IN the clamor of today’s world, fast-paced and saturated with noise, the art of discernment has become tragically lost. In fact, St. John Paul II said, "…the future of the world stands in peril unless wiser people are forthcoming." (Familiaris Consortio, n. 8)

But wiser people will not be forthcoming unless we learn to hear and discern the voice of God…

IN her many apparitions throughout the world, the Blessed Mother has called us to "pray, pray, pray." But what does that mean? More words? I think it's something far deeper than that...

Protestants say Catholics invented it. Catholics say it's essential for many to enter Heaven. What does the Bible say?

WE have produced a culture in which the vulnerable and weak are being encouraged to check out and die. Physician-assisted suicide is rapidly spreading through the West... but is it right?

SAINT Paul taught that hope is the fruit of enduring one's afflictions, which shape one's character. However, one can put up with trials, so to speak, in a state of bitter resignation, anger, and resentment, which actually leads to despair.
 
Rather, Paul showed us that this endurance of suffering is only fruitful in holy abandonment...
