Selected verses from the "Hua Hu Ching" by Lao Tzu. The Hua Hu Ching is a book containing later teachings attributed to Lao Tzu, the author of the Tao Te Ching. It is also known as "The Educate the Barbarians Sutra". While the Tao Te Ching is widely known and revered, the Hua Hu Ching's teachings are believed to be of equal importance. The Hua Hu Ching's teachings focus on attaining enlightenment and mastery through a path similar to the Tao Te Ching. They offer a practical guide to living a virtuous life, embracing the present moment, and discovering one's true self. The Hua Hu Ching's history is somewhat mysterious. While the original text was discovered in the Mogao Caves, it was also banned and ordered to be burned during a time of political turmoil in the 14th century. As a result, there are few complete and accurate manuscripts today, but the teachings have been preserved through oral transmission by Taoist masters.🙏 May whatever goodness arises from these readings/offerings be for the benefit of all sentient beings.🔆 These podcasts are not monetized. Master Linji Yixuan ~ Be Ordinary ~ Zen Buddhism
The Linji lu (Record of Linji) has been an essential text of Chinese and Japanese Zen Buddhism for nearly a thousand years. A compilation of sermons, statements, and acts attributed to the great Chinese Zen master Linji Yixuan (d. 866), it serves as both an authoritative statement of Zen’s basic standpoint and a central source of material for Zen koan practice. Zen practitioners cherish it for its unusual simplicity, directness, and ability to inspire. Linji Yixuan ( died 866 CE) was the founder of the Linji school of Chán Buddhism during Tang dynasty China.🙏 May whatever goodness arises from these readings/offerings be for the benefit of all sentient beings.🔆 These podcasts are not monetized. Sallatha Sutta: The Arrow - SN 36.6 ~ Pali Suttas
The "Sallatha Sutta: The Arrow" SN 36.6 (also known as the "Two Arrows" or "The Parable of the Poisoned Arrow") is a Buddhist parable that highlights the importance of understanding and managing our reactions to difficult experiences. The parable illustrates how we can choose to react to painful situations in a way that minimizes further suffering, rather than amplifying it. The first arrow represents the painful experience itself, while the second arrow symbolizes our resistance and negative feelings in response to that pain. The Buddha teaches that while we can't always control the first arrow (the initial pain), we can learn to control the second arrow by practicing mindfulness and non-resistance.Translated by Bhante Sujato🙏 May whatever goodness arises from these readings/offerings be for the benefit of all sentient beings.🔆 These podcasts are not monetized.
