  • EP42 Lost in Time: The Mary Boyle case with lecturer and solicitor Cormac Conaghan
Donegal native Cormac talks us through what is considered Ireland's longest running missing person case.In March 1977, six-year-old Mary Boyle vanished without a trace from her grandparents’ remote farm in Cashelard, near Ballyshannon, County Donegal. Despite one of the largest searches in Irish history involving locals, Gardaí and the army no trace of Mary was ever found. Her disappearance became Ireland’s longest-running missing child case. Over the decades, the case has been clouded by allegations of political interference, mishandled investigations, and claims of a cover-up. • EP40: The Butcher of Mons
Welcome to episode 40 of the Cliff's Edge Podcast: The Butcher of Mons with special guest Rion.On a Spring day in 1997 a Belgian cop got off his horse to investigate what he presumed to be another case of illegal dumping. However, what he discovered was something far more sinister; dismembered human remains that had been left in numerous bin bags. Over the next seven months more bags containing human remains were found throughout the Mons region. These destressing finds shocked the locals of Mons, but the fear and shock of the public did not lead to an expensive and prolonged investigation. Sadly it was quite the opposite. As time passed the victims plight seems to have been largely forgotten by the authorities. And due to Belgium's statute of limitations; if the killer is not caught in the next fifteen months they will have gotten away with these barbaric murders in the eyes of the law.Thank you for listening and if you have the time please give us a rating and a share. And if you can a review would be much appreciated.Website of the Belgian Federal Police: Services | Police FédéraleFurther Reading: Morgan Vanlerberghe, the amateur detective who wants to catch the 'butcher of Mons'Facebook Group: The Cliff's Edge Podcast | FacebookBlog: VanishingTriangleEireSupport: Ciaran McConnell Hosted on Acast. • EP39: A Final Voyage- The Palmyra Disappearances
On episode 39 Ciaran McConnell covers a case that has been described as more terrifying than fiction, and it is hard to argue with that. In the mid 1970s experienced sailors Elanor and Mac Graham, unbeknownst to them, took their final voyage to a remote paradise known as Palmyra in the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. What was meant to be a year long trip to paradise soon turned bad for the Grahams. When they first docked at Palmyra they came face to face with a cold blooded fugitive, and months later they vanished. It took the full weight of the FBI years to finally bring some justice to this tragic case.Facebook Group: The Cliff's Edge Podcast | FacebookDonate: Ciaran McConnellBlog: Cold Case Investigations | Ireland's Vanishing TriangleFurther Reading: And the Sea Will Tell: Amazon.co.uk: Bugliosi, Vincent: 9780393327960: Books Hosted on Acast.
