Kyle also opens up about the sudden loss of his mother and how becoming a father himself has reshaped what he understands about grace and belonging.

On this episode, Kyle Van Hecke shares about growing up in a broken, addiction-marked home in St. Louis, Missouri, with a father whose rages ended in police called to the house and years spent surrounded by drugs and alcohol. He talks about hitting his lowest point his senior year of high school while living alone in an apartment, stealing for the adrenaline and drinking just to feel something. Kyle shares about how he got to Baylor University and, eventually, to church and where he’d start to encounter God and experience freedom. He talks through pursuing his now-wife, Abby, and the hard, humbling first year of marriage spent learning to communicate while serving in Air Force intelligence. Kyle also breaks down what he calls the grace of God showing up before he ever asked for it, and why tracing that grace backward through your own story can be the first step toward believing you truly belong in God's family. After six months away, Laura and I are so GRATEFUL to be back with our Antioch Waco family to share reflections from our sabbatical.
Laura is able to open up about entering the season exhausted in body and soul and how God led her into a wilderness season of rest, counseling and healing, teaching her to move from grit to grace.
I share three pictures of grace God gave me during the sabbatical, drawn from Ephesians 1, Hebrews 4 and Psalm 16, each pointing to the Trinity's nearness and care.
This message covers themes of rest, sabbatical, trusting God, healing and the presence of the Holy Spirit and closes with a call to respond to grace individually and as a church family.

On this episode, Austin Murray opens up about growing up in Waco, Texas with divorced parents and a chaotic childhood that spiraled into alcohol and drug use as a teenager. He talks about hitting rock bottom on a senior trip, feeling completely empty afterward, and choosing to cut himself off from friends to find his way back to God. Austin shares the story of meeting his future wife, Jordanna, and how one prayer night changed everything for him when He experienced God's grace in such a powerful, tangible way that his desire for addiction and shame broke overnight.
He talks through turning down big job offers to stay obedient to ministry, grinding through unglamorous years as a young campus pastor, and more recently, processing the loss of his mother. Austin also breaks down the real difference between grace and tolerating sin, and why that distinction matters for anyone trying to walk in freedom instead of settling for comfort.

He reflects on the values his parents instilled in him to live simply, work diligently and give generously. Those principles guided him and his wife Kendall as they paid off $70,000 of debt in two and a half years, chose a one-income lifestyle and built a business around helping others. He shares the heart behind Money Chronicles, a budgeting app designed for intentionality over automation and podcast created to explore what it looks like to live these values out in every season of life.
