- The second 11th Edition codex has landed, and it's full of poster boys in power armor! In this episode, we review the brand new Space Marines codex. Everything about this codex is big - big page count, big unit roster, and big changes to how the army plays. We dig into the returning Combat Doctrines system, look at the new detachments and how they can be used to build a variety of marine armies, and examine the changes to all the units in the book. Who gets the biggest glow-up, who takes the hardest hit with the nerf bat, and who serves a completely different roll now? It's a big book, so this is a big episode!
Thanks to Games Workshop for providing us with a copy of the codex to review!

In the last few weeks, we've gathered a critical mass of messages, and we decided to revive the old listener mail section for this episode. From new narrative events, to answering some critiques, to delving into our favorite Black Library authors, to discussing who should be featured for every faction, we talk about a bit of everything! Also, we discuss the news about Space Marines, their stat boosts, and the end of the Firstborn marines.

In this episode, we dive into the brand new Orks codex and get our first taste of what codexes will look like in the new edition. We look at what's included, what's not, and what's new in this book. Does this book feel complete? Does the new detachment system provide a decent army-building system? What's the rule that most excites us from this book? Are Orks as pushed as everyone fears? And did they just try to make aircraft good? We look at all that and more in our review!

Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices - Change is often uncomfortable, and editions changes are even more so. 11th Edition has brought a lot of changes, both small and large, to Warhammer 40K, and most of them have been pretty well-received. That said, there are a few things that have brought a bit of extra friction to the game, had unexpected impacts, or just aren't quite working as anticipated. In this episode, we look at three particular pain points that impact the armies we build, the tables we play on, and the missions we play. Are any of them deal-breakers? No, but if we address them now and figure out constructive ways to work with - or around - them, hopefully we can smooth them out and have an easier, better gaming experience! Also, Kevin and Richard bring a report back from GenCon!

Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices - One of Games Workshop's stated goals is to bridge the gap between narrative and competitive play, and the Dominatus narrative deck is their first attempt to build that bridge. In this episode, we're going to dive into the deck and give our thoughts, along with Rob's experience with running and playing in a Dominatus league. Does the deck deliver a solid narrative experience? How well does it bring narrative and matched play together? Does it fix the issues with Crusade? How well does it handle narrative play ranging from a weekend event to a multi-month league? And what else can you do with it? Also, we discuss the July rules update, with what changes we expected, what changes we didn't, and our thoughts on the app as the primary rules distribution system.
