Continuing our series Being Human, Mark Sayers turns to Psalm 23 and takes us into what roboticists call the "uncanny valley". Scripture places humans between two peaks — created in the image of God with agency and creativity, yet formed from the dust with mortality and fragility. When we forget this, we fall into one of two temptations: overreaching to be like God, or collapsing into resignation. But the scriptures point to a narrow path through the valley, marked by the biblical rhythm of complaint, petition, and praise, a language Jesus himself prayed on the cross. Mark reminds us that the Good Shepherd walks with us through the valley, and that being truly human means learning to walk it with Him.
