10.13 What Did Ezekiel See by the River Chebar?

    17/06/2026 | 32 mins.
This is the story of Ezekiel's fantastic vision of the glory of the Lord in Babylon and what it meant to him.

Ezekiel describes his vision in Ezekiel 1. This story also includes Ezekiel's vision of the departure of the glory of the Lord from the temple in Jerusalem, which is described in Ezekiel 10-11.

The lament of the exiles is taken from Psalm 137.

The story of Naaman that is referenced is found in 2 Kings 5:1-19.

    10.12 Moses' Meet Cute

    03/06/2026 | 22 mins.
It seems as if Moses' first marriage is on the rocks, but look, there seems to be a new woman in his life, and she seems to be... a Cushite?

To quote a good friend of mine, "Is that in the Bible?

The story is based on Numbers 12:1-16. The reference to Moses and Zipporah's divorce comes from Exodus 18:1-9, and the story of the emergency circumcision is found in Exodus 4:24-26.

10.10 Who Killed Saul? The Coldest Case

    13/05/2026 | 34 mins.
There are two contradictory stories told of the death of King Saul in the Bible. So, who dunnit? And, maybe more importantly, why did they do it?

And was it murder most foul?

Based on the two stories of the death of Saul in 1 Samuel 31 and 2 Samuel 1, and the story of the raid on Ziklag by the Amalekites is in 1 Samuel30.

Also references the sad tale of Saul's "genocide" of the Amalekites as told in 1 Samuel 15.

About Retelling the Bible
I created this podcast – to attempt to retell some of my favourite Bible stories in a way that might help us to hear them as their first listeners would have done so. Such a retelling may not help us to know exactly what happened, but I hope it might help us to delve into those truths that they were trying to communicate.
