- For this week's podcast episode, I talk about the sedge hatches, which have been very poor and sparse this past month. Hopefully it is down to the high water temperatures holding the hatches back. It's not only us anglers keen to get the cooler water to bring on the sport; both the fly life and trout are also waiting. I tell the story of past experiences when rain and cooler water followed the hot weather, which brought great success. Let's hope the next week or so will bring the sedge hatches we are waiting for and the trout back on the feed.
- For this week's podcast episode, I chat with Paul Morgan of Coch y Bonddu books based in Machynlleth, mid Wales.
He tells of his love of wild fishing around his home, whether it's fishing for seatrout on the Dyfi, or brownies from the mountain lakes. We also chat about his fishing book shop and his publishing business, the changes he has seen over the years, and he gives an insight to anyone considering publishing their own book.
This week's Patreon competition prize is a signed copy of Paul's book 'Saltwater Flyfishing'.
More details on how to enter will follow soon. - In this week's episode, I chatted with Welshman and creator of 'The Fly Tidy ', Lee James. We chat about his competition fishing and his love of Lough Corrib, where he has fished for the last 16 years and what brought him success this May. He also tells us the interesting and funny story of how 'the Fly Tidy' came about.
Enjoy!
Lee is giving away a 'Fly Tidy' for this week's Patreon competition and will put up details soon. - This week, I am joined once more with professional casting instructor and guide Chris Hague. We chatted about how his season has been, including the mayfly on the River Derwent at the Chatsworth Estate. He tells us of his recent addition to his casting qualifications and of his involvement and developments with Mackenzie Flyfishing, including a new salmon flyline. He also talks of his upcoming hosted trips to the East Ranga in Iceland.
Chris has given a Mackenzie FX Integra Trout Floating line as a competition prize for Patreon members this month; more details to follow. - This week's episode is a milestone as we reach the 250th episode. I am joined by sea trout specialist and good friend Alun Rees. Alun was my first guest back in 2020, so I thought it would be good to have him back on this special episode.
We chat about his sea trout experiences, his tying, YouTube, GAIA and some of the podcast episodes over the years.
I want to thank all the contributors, listeners and especially my Patreon members for all the support.
Enjoy!
