Focal Point: the IMV imaging podcast

In this episode of Focal Point, Sam, Amy and Sian from the IMV team discuss echocardiography, wildlife and teaching with Dr. Laurent Locquet Dipl. ECVIM-CA (Cardiology) MBA GPCert(VC) MRCVS DVM.
 
Laurent graduated in 2015 from Ghent University, Belgium and worked in general practice for one year both abroad in South Africa as well as in Belgium, primarily with cats dogs and wildlife, before starting a rotating Internship in a busy referral centre in the UK. During his internship, Laurent obtained his certificate in Veterinary Cardiology. After completing his Internship, Laurent completed a Residency in Veterinary Cardiology at the University of Ghent before joining a busy referral practice in the Greater London area for one year before joining DWR Veterinary Specialists in 2022. In 2024, Laurent established the Veterinary Cardio Club, an online veterinary community for cardio-enthusiasts, including over 400 vets from over 80 countries in the world. Furthermore, he co-founded Skillvet in 2025, providing in-person lectures in 4 different continents in 2026. Lastly, he was involved in the development of the Sonus health app, the first AI driven veterinary cardiac screening and monitoring app. Laurent enjoys all aspects of veterinary Cardiology though he has a particular interest in procedures involving cardiopulmonary bypass, minimally invasive interventions and wildlife cardiology.

In this episode of Focal Point, Sam, Hannah and Amy from the IMV team discuss AI and its impact on the veterinary industry with Dr. Adele Williams-Xavier.
Adele is a specialist in equine internal medicine and an AI and clinical data expert within the veterinary industry. She has been overseeing clinical AI tool creation and getting data to sufficient quality for AI builds to produce high quality AI tools for the past 7 years. Adele runs her own AI and clinical data consultancy business, Ai-WX, where she advises veterinary staff, veterinary business and veterinary educators on AI literacy, AI implementation, ethical and responsible use of AI, as well as advising tech startups on AI tool product improvements and how to get the most value from clinical data. She works part-time with CoVet, as a veterinary AI expert, helping to improve the AI scribe vet co-pilot product, and is a board advisor for PetScribers and Prim Veterinary. Adele advocates for ethical and responsible AI adoption within the veterinary industry, has a column on AI in the Veterinary Record, and is a recognised international speaker on AI in veterinary medicine.

In this episode of Focal Point, the IMV Clinical team chat with two special guests about the magic that happens when vet nurses start performing ultrasound examinations in practice.
It all began with a conversation about getting started with ultrasound between our Scotland Account Manager, Amy Thompson RVN, and Jodie Harper RVN at her practice, Wallace Vets in Angus. Following this, Jodie attended our Ultrasonography for Vet Nurses course and the rest, as they say, is history!
We will discuss how Jodie’s skills with the scanner have inspired colleagues to attend our courses, as well as arranging a bespoke in-practice training session for the vets and nurses to learn alongside each other on their own machine.
