▶️ Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@scarybearattacks - The primary individual at the center of this incredible survival event was Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks Regional Warden Supervisor Louis Keys, stationed out of Kalispell. Across his long, dedicated career as a wildlife officer, Keys had successfully handled, trapped, and relocated numerous problem grizzly bears throughout the Flathead Valley and surrounding wildlands. Known by his colleagues as an exceptionally experienced, calm, and capable field warden, he approached every wildlife operation with professional discipline.During this particular operation near the Bob Marshall Wilderness boundary, Keys was on duty managing the direct field release of a captured grizzly bear. Keys did not have a dog accompanying him on this assignment, but as a seasoned state game warden, he was equipped with his department sidearm, a three--fifty-seven Magnum service revolver carried securely in his duty holster. The chain of events began when a five-hundred-pound grizzly bear was captured on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation bordering Glacier National Park by Federal Animal Damage Control Agent Ken Wheeler. The bear was transferred to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks personnel, who secured the animal inside a heavy-duty aluminum culvert trap mounted in the bed of a state pickup truck. Louis Keys and wildlife biologist Shawn Riley drove the bear deep into the backcountry to release it into the wild bordering the Bob Marshall Wilderness.Upon arriving at the designated drop site, Riley remained behind the steering wheel of the truck while Keys climbed onto the top of the aluminum trap to manually lift the heavy sliding door. As Keys pulled upward, the release gate became stuck in its tracks. Sensing the opening, the five-hundred-pound grizzly began biting and clawing furiously at the partially raised metal slab, utilizing sheer brute strength to force the door high enough to scramble out.The moment the bear hit the gravel, Keys hollered the word "Go!" to Riley inside the cab, intending for the truck to accelerate forward and put distance between them and the animal. However, the warden's shout drew the bear's immediate attention. Before Riley could accelerate, the grizzly spun around, rose onto its hind legs, and lunged upward toward Keys. The bear grabbed the frame of the aluminum trap with tremendous power, yanking the heavy cylinder straight out of the pickup bed. The sudden violent movement upended the trap, sending Keys tumbling off the top and falling directly down on top of the enraged five-hundred-pound bruin.🐻 Get new stories early and ad-free on Patreon: patreon.com/8650258/join

▶️ Watch on YouTube: youtube.com/@scarybearattacks - Colorado's had a record year for bear conflicts — over 6,000 sightings and confrontations reported by mid-August, nearly double where the state stood at this point last year, driven by a drought that's stripped the berry crop bears depend on. These four attacks span the state, from a legendary grizzly killing decades ago to a home invasion caught on record this year. - As he waited Jerry noticed a few bushes jostling a short distance away from him, so he let out another mew. The animal in the bush seemed to respond to the call and headed toward him through the brush. A little over thirty yards away, a sow emerged, stepping forward as her cubs, small but alert, hung back. The hunter, surprised, brought up his rifle, but as he searched for a shot, the bear began bounding toward him. He fired one defensive shot before the bear slammed him to the ground. If the shot he fired struck the sow, she showed no signs of it. She swatted Jerry to the ground and pressed him flat beneath her bulk and power. Reigning down swats and bites from above the man, she tore gashes and punched holes in his flesh at any place she could contact. After several seconds of unrelenting violence, the sow seemed to tire and took a few steps away. As Jerry waited for a renewed attack from her, he could hear the cubs growling and squealing from the brush several yards away. It seemed as if the sow was blinded by rage at the sight of the man, and the cubs' growls brought her back to sanity. The sow trotted back over to her cubs and ensured they were unhurt. Turning back toward the brush, she led them away and left Jerry battered, bruised, and bloodied but breathing. Jerry was severely wounded and was in critical condition. It isn’t clear how he managed to get help, but only that he was airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital, where he remains hospitalized and unable to speak due to the seriousness of the injuries inflicted during the attack. For more TRUE educational and entertaining content like this, subscribe to youtube.com/@scarybearattacks
