Peter calls believers to prepare their minds, stay sober-minded, and refuse to be shaped by the desires that defined who they used to be. Holiness isn’t just about what we stop doing—it’s about who we’re becoming.

In a culture that tells us to follow every desire, Jesus calls us to a different way. There is a weight that comes with carrying His name, but there is also freedom in becoming more like Him.

Holiness isn’t the burden of following Jesus—it’s the evidence that He’s changing us.

What do you do when following Jesus gets costly?

As we continue walking through 1 Peter, we’re reminded that persecution, pressure, rejection, and suffering have always been part of the story of God’s people—but they never get the final word.

Peter writes to believers who are scattered, misunderstood, and facing real opposition, yet he keeps pointing them beyond what they’re experiencing to what God has promised. The pressure may be real, but it’s temporary. The opposition may be loud, but it’s temporary. The suffering may hurt, but this is temporary.
