Celtic Exchange: Celtic Football Club in Focus

It's been 23 days since Celtic completed a remarkable League and Scottish Cup Double at Hampden, but despite what will surely be a hugely important summer, things have remained relatively quiet in the weeks since.

That may soon change.

With Martin O'Neill now preparing for a full season in charge, attention will turn to the make-up of his backroom team, the challenge of defending Celtic's domestic crown, and his hopes of leading us in to Europe's top tournament once again.

The summer transfer window officially opened today (15 June) and with several departures expected it should (should!) be a busy few months ahead. We discuss the key areas O'Neill needs to strengthen, the priority positions in the squad, and where the biggest concerns currently lie.

The season may be over, but Celtic's work is only just beginning. Or at least it should be...

While the players enjoy a well-earned break, there are major decisions to be made behind the scenes - and, so far, there's been little sign of movement.

It's still early in the summer of course, but securing a manager for the season ahead - whether that's Martin O'Neill or someone else - has to be the club's top priority.

The longer that uncertainty drags on, the more restless the support becomes.

Beyond the dugout, expectations are growing that the coming weeks will bring significant changes to the playing squad, alongside potential developments in the boardroom.

All signs point to a pivotal summer at Celtic Park.

Elsewhere, no fewer than eight Celts are preparing for the World Cup, which gets underway in just a matter of days. We'll be watching closely - although whether all of them return as Celtic players remains an open question.

Celtic are a club renowned for breaking new ground, and this summer looks set to bring another first with what is believed to be the first-ever football history conference dedicated to a single club.

Many have helped preserve and share Celtic's remarkable story over the years, but few have contributed more in recent times than Pat Woods, Tom Campbell and David Potter - three figures whose work has been a major inspiration behind the creation of this event.

Ahead of the conference, which takes place at Celtic Park on Saturday 6th June, we sat down with Celtic author Matthew Marr and acclaimed documentary filmmaker Margot McCuaig - whose credits include films on Jock Stein, Tommy Burns and Jimmy Johnstone - to discuss their involvement in what promises to be a unique occasion.

Both will feature among a distinguished line-up of guest speakers on the day. In this wide-ranging conversation, we explore the importance of preserving Celtic's rich history, the challenges of passing that story on to future generations, and the role emerging technologies such as AI may play in shaping how that history is remembered and recorded.

We'll never see another season like it - which is just as well, in many ways - but in terms of pure footballing joy, it'll be almost impossible to match what we've all experienced these last few weeks.

Inspired by Martin O'Neill, and with moments of magic by Daizen Maeda, Kelechi Iheanacho and others, Celtic are Double Winners once again - and our dominance of Scottish Football continues!

It’s a day that, not so long ago, felt like it might slip away. But when it mattered most, this Celtic side found something extra - dug deep, stood tall - and now stand once again as Champions of Scotland.
