We may well be witnessing the final games of Daizen Maeda in a Celtic shirt, but if the Japanese star is to move on at the end of this campaign then he looks like he wants to go out swinging, as shown by 3 goals and 2 assists in his last two outings.

There's no better time of the season to find form, and with Alistair Johnston re-joining the party - as well as Arne Engles AND the Green Brigade in recent weeks - then things are looking up for our title charge.

As the banner in the North Curve stated on Saturday, The Spirit of '86 is very much upon us as Celtic look to once again wrestle a title from Hearts' grasp.

After a chaotic 90 minutes at Hampden - a game that perfectly captured the highs and lows of Celtic’s season - everything changed in six breathtaking minutes of extra time, that just about nobody saw coming.

In the end, it delivered more than just a dramatic win. It booked a return to Hampden next month and, perhaps more importantly, reignited belief in this squad ahead of this nail-biting title run-in.

The win over St Mirren at the weekend won't be featuring in any "best of" compilations in years to come, and nor should we care if it does, as Celtic again picked up another vital three points.

And while many of us - ourselves included - have been waiting for this side to "turn the corner" and to really put a team to the sword, maybe that's just not going to happen this season.

And maybe that's ok.

So long as there's silverware at the end of it in the shape of the Scottish Premiership Trophy.

And it's now abundantly clear, and maybe has been for a while, that Martin O'Neill is simply doing what he has to do in order to get us over the line.

This is the deal.

And if we have to grind it out between now and the end of next month, then so be it.

It's the way it is. And none of us will care if it leads us to this season's ultimate goal.
