That I Do Not Frustrate Grace | The Superior Covenant: Belief, Repentance, and the Mind | Pastor Chingtok Ishaku X Pastor Sarah Ishaku | 27th. July 2025
This sermon emphasize the power of belief and the importance of a superior covenant with God.In his session, Pastor Chingtok Ishaku explains that as a kingdom of kings and priests, Christians have a better covenant, priest, and sacrifice than the Old Covenant. This new covenant is superior in both power and operation. For it to take effect, he states, we must give it our full attention and not neglect it. Two primary ways people neglect their salvation and hinder the new covenant's power are through lasciviousness (bound by the lust of the flesh) and religion (bound by the pride of life). He stresses that the strength of conscience ceases once a person arrives at a place of belief. While society and religion can limit and defile a person's conscience, true repentance can restore it. He clarifies that God is higher than a person's conscience, but He expects them to honor it. Pastor Chingtok argues that sin is not God's problem because Jesus's blood has already destroyed its power. Instead, what separates a person from God is not their sin but their lack of repentance. Ultimately, he says, the greatest force in the universe is a person's belief, and nothing will change in their life until their belief changes.Building on this theme, Pastor Sarah Chingtok highlights the direct connection between faith and believing. She explains that our mind constantly seeks new commands and materials to believe. Therefore, we must deliberately provide it with the Word of God to "re-culture" our thinking. The things we hear and repeatedly think about become the new commands that shape our lives. She encourages listeners to let the reality of being in Christ be the highest command their mind receives, overpowering all other realities. We must actively choose what we behold and focus on, as this shapes our beliefs. She notes that fear is "cheap and popular" and doesn't require permission to influence us, which is why we must intentionally give our minds marching orders rooted in hope and the Word of God.
