After 6000 Autopsies, This Was The Case That Broke Him

    05/08/2026 | 53 mins.
In March 2021, police in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges uncovered a shallow grave containing the body of 21-year-old Jasmeen Kaur. What forensic pathologist Professor Roger Byard discovered during her autopsy, soil inhaled deep into her airways revealed a horrifying truth: Jasmeen had been buried alive.
In this episode of True Crime Conversations, Gemma Bath sits down with Professor Roger Byard, one of Australia’s most respected forensic pathologists, following his recent retirement from an extraordinary career. He opens up about investigating the horrific Snowtown murders, identifying victims of the Bali bombings and Boxing Day tsunami, and what four decades on the frontline of death has taught him.

Daniel Mancuso's Father Killed His Mother. The Grief Feels Different This Year.

    29/07/2026 | 51 mins.
It’s a cold July night in Melbourne in 2013 when an elderly neighbour hears terrifying screams coming from the home next door. When police arrive, they find 49-year-old Teresa Mancuso murdered in her parent's garage, the victim of a vicious act of family violence at the hands of her ex-husband.
Though Teresa’s two sons, Daniel and Luke, knew immediately who was responsible, it would take two excruciating years of living in fear before their father was finally arrested and charged.
Grieving and back in the house where their mother died, the brothers found unexpected hope through the fence. Their Greek neighbour, a loving grandmother, began passing home-cooked meals to the boys, adopting them as her own and ultimately inspiring a movement now known as Yiayia Next Door.
In this episode of True Crime Conversations, Daniel Mancuso joins us to reflect on his mother’s legacy, navigating deep grief, breaking the cycle of family violence, and turning community kindness into a powerful movement for change.

Part 2: We Spoke To A Victim And Her Perpetrator. This Is Kai's Story.

    22/07/2026 | 52 mins.
Listen to Part 1 with Alena here.
In 2000, Alena Turley was held at knifepoint by a man she had previously been in a relationship with. The terrifying incident left her with PTSD and lasting trauma. Alena was able to disarm him that night, but what might have happened if she hadn’t?
In these two special episodes of True Crime Conversations, we’re exploring something rarely heard in true crime storytelling. With Alena’s blessing, we sit down with her to talk about the relationship, the warning signs, and the traumatic night that changed her life.
We’ve also invited the person responsible for the crime, who we’ll refer to by the pseudonym Kai, to answer the questions we rarely get the chance to ask the person on the other side of the crime.
This isn’t about justification or excuses. It’s about accountability, examining what happened, and trying to better understand the complex realities behind an act of violence.

What's Next For The Aussie Charged With Murdering A Teen In Thailand?

    15/07/2026 | 37 mins.
It’s late June 2026, and police in Pattaya, Thailand, are retracing the movements of Australian man Simon Carman through hours of CCTV footage. At first, his day appears unremarkable. He eats breakfast, runs errands and returns to his accommodation before, just after 9pm, quietly leaving through a rear exit with a large suitcase.
Security cameras capture Carman riding a rented scooter into the night, the suitcase still in tow, until the footage abruptly ends. When he later reappears on camera, the suitcase is gone.
Hours later, police find the body of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla inside the abandoned suitcase. Carman is arrested at the airport and charged with her murder.
