Does it feel as though everything depends on you? What if strength begins when you stop trying to hold everything together?

It is an invitation to loosen our grip, bring our worries to God, and trust that he is strong enough to lead. Some battles you fight again and again, and the wall still stands. David knew that feeling.

David was bold, gifted and deeply loved by God, and he was also deeply flawed. He gave in to lust, let pride take the reins, and failed to act justly when it mattered most. Yet God stayed with him, not because David never fell, but because he knew how to get back up and fall to his knees. That ache you feel when something is wrong? It isn't weakness. It's a holy signal.

Today we sit with Esther, a young woman who was handed terrible news and given an impossible choice. Mordecai asked her to speak up for her people, knowing the cost. She felt the fear, but something holy stirred in her, and she rose. You and I may not be royalty, but we carry influence too - at work, at home, in our neighbourhood, and in our corps.

Justice isn't only about noticing what's wrong. It's about stepping into it, even when it's costly. God doesn't call us to comfort. He calls us to courage.

It isn't lust. It isn't pride. It isn't anger. The stronghold most of us live with is far quieter than that - and far easier to excuse.

In today's five-minute devotional, Rob looks at the habit of delay: those moments when we sense God nudging us, and we don't say no, we just say not yet. We look at Psalm 119:60, where the psalmist hurries to obey without weighing up the options. We see how David's pauses cost him dearly, and how our own hesitation is often less about wisdom and more about wanting control. But God is patient, his grace doesn't run out when we stall, and there is real freedom waiting on the other side of a simple yes.
