What does real faith actually look like?

In Matthew 9, we see two desperate people come to Jesus, not with pride or perfection, but with need. A father believing for his daughter. A woman reaching in faith after years of suffering. And Jesus meets both of them right there.

This message reminds us that it’s not about how much faith you have, but where you place it. When your need outweighs your ego, you’ll finally surrender. 

Desperation isn’t weakness, it’s the starting point of faith. Because it’s not over until Jesus says it’s over.

It also challenges us not to minimize sin, but to recognize our deep need for a Savior, because the weight of the cross shows just how serious sin really is.

At its core, this message shows that salvation begins with need, is shaped through daily surrender, and is seen in a life transformed by Jesus.

Following Jesus isn’t about comfort— it’s about surrender.

In this episode of Deepen, we explore the tension between fear and faith, the cost of truly following Jesus, and what it looks like to trust Him in the middle of life’s storms. Jesus isn’t an add-on to our plans. He is Lord and He calls us to put Him first.
