It’s finale time and time for Vincent to reveal his unpopular plan, and he was right to be worried about how the Mikaelsons took that news. And he does try his hand at the strategy we suggested last time: lying! The Hollow tries to begin her reign with an old friend by her side, but, as it often does, hubris rears its ugly head. As the team gets ready to defeat the Hollow, everyone feels a pressure to resolve their issues. Some apologize, others break apart, others just don’t answer their phone for no good reason. We end the season not knowing if we’ll all be back in New Orleans again, but at least we get to revisit Mystic Falls. Finally, we revisit the short season and all the things we liked, didn’t like, and what we would have wanted to see!

The Hollow has her claws in Hope and she does not want to let go! The Hollow tries her best to act like a normal 7 year old girl, but she simply does not have the capacity for empathy to give a performance than convinces anyone for more than five minutes. And even worse for her, the one and only Vincent Griffith is back this week, book in hand, ready to beat her down - with a little help from her mom! Hope fights against giving up even though things look dire. Vincent believes there may be a solution, but it may be the end of always & forever …

Whenever it seems like the Hollow can be beat, she finds a way and this week, that way is Kol. And somehow she teamed up with Kol on the smartest day of his entire life! Rebekah tries to work with Kol, but gets trapped with her soulmate and they both have to pretend to hate it. Freya and Hayley get ready to kill the Hollow in her evil home, but of course she has some hallucinations prepped to both break Hayley’s spirit and make us boo a familiar face. Freelin shippers also get quite the jump scare! Klaus travels across the city to keep plans moving and shows mercy, which will all be worth it to celebrate a victory with his daughter. But Hope may not be quite so safe, and the Hollow may have been one step ahead the whole time.

This week, we venture deep into Elijah’s mind and WOOF! It’s a hallway of doors to repress memories and you better believe one is red! While Freya, Hayley, and Hope work on that, Kol and Rebekah arrive home to help Klaus destroy the rosebush thorns. Unfortunately, both Kol and Rebekah get distracted by their exes. Marcel needs the thorns for Sofya, and Davina is used as a tool to get Kol to switch sides.

This week we have an old TVD favorite that is new to the Originals: a good old fashioned martyr-off! With Elijah in danger, and the Hollow threatening Vincent, we need a plan STAT. Of course the priorities are mismatched because of, what else, always and forever. We get the return of a certain piece of jewelry, finally see the cure that came from weeks of extracting Keelin’s venom, and experience Klaus’s most opulent brunch maybe ever. The Hollow is closer than ever to getting her dear physical foothold, and trust she’s ready to bust out!
