  • Midweek Chat: What Do You Call Those Stitches?

    09/04/2026
Wednesday has made an appearance once again so Cindy and Gary seized the opportunity to talk about needlework. Our list of topics include decorative/specialty stitches (tell us what you think in the comments), making Dorset buttons, #12 perle cotton, paying attention to instructions, counted-canvas needlework, using glue sticks on fray-prone threads, and an upcoming collaboration with “Inspirations” magazine.–Cindy and Gary Listen to the podcast: Watch the video. • Poppy Monk Opens the Door to Needlepoint

    05/04/2026
Brenda Stimpson formed Poppy Monk Needlepoint Kits to provide a way for stitchers to learn and advance their skills. A big part of that approach is printed canvases that make needlepoint affordable. Combining those carefully crafted designs with quality threads and thorough instructions lowers the entry barriers and allows stitchers of all ages and skill levels (including children) to quickly get to the fun of stitching. If you’re always looking for that next project, put your name on the Poppy Monk mailing list so you’ll learn about their weekly releases of new kits.—Gary Listen to the podcast: This show is also available on FlossTube. Cartonnage: The Art of Box Making with Claudia Squio
  • Cartonnage: The Art of Box Making with Claudia Squio

    29/03/2026
We have talked about ColorWay Arts and Claudia Squio’s beautiful boxes on many shows. Cindy and Beth have both had excellent success with Claudia’s kits. This week we were able to talk to Claudia, learn how her business came to be, hear the fascinating story of how it grew to what it is today, and gain some insight into how the box kits are manufactured and built. If you’re looking for another way to finish your needlework, these boxes offer several options as Beth and Lori Mann have demonstrated. We hope you enjoy hearing Claudia’s story and encourage you to visit her website and give one of her kits a try.–Cindy and Gary Listen to the podcast: This show is also available on FlossTube. • Kelly Largent Weaves, Carves, Felts, and Embroiders

    22/03/2026
This week’s artist is Kelly Largent of Waxed Entanglement. The best description of her work comes from Kelly, “I create wooden frames that I turn into looms and then weave into them. I embellish my weaving with wood carving, needle felting, embroidery, and more.” The result is absolutely creative, original, and captivating textile art. Be sure to check out the pieces that use three layers of weaving to create depth.
