    07/08/2026 | 1h 40 mins.
Off The Ball’s Gaelic Games correspondent Tommy Rooney takes you behind the scenes and inside Croke Park for the “Radio Diary of an All-Ireland Football Final’ — from the pre-match chatter, to the live updates from a thrilling final as well as words with some of the people who make an All-Ireland final so special.

Relive the magic of the match itself with The Football Pod in Croke Park and Armagh star Rory Grugan in studio with John Duggan, and then there’s those incredible scenes as Mayo finally win their fourth All-Ireland title, a first in 75 years, as Jack Coyne delivered a speech to match the moment.

Sounds of the Summer: Mayo coach Paddy Tally on Andy Moran, Kobe McDonald and the seismic change in Gaelic football

    07/08/2026 | 12 mins.
Welcome to our Sounds of the Summer podcast, a look back, and look forward, to some of the biggest GAA stories which dominated 2026.
Here, Mayo coach Paddy Tally, chatted to our own GAA correspondent Tommy Rooney back in April ahead of their Connacht championship defeat to Roscommon.
Tally explains how Andy Moran brought him into the Mayo setup, what separates Moran from other managers he’s worked with, and why Mayo remain one of the hardest teams to predict — even when you’re coaching them.
They also dig into Gaelic football’s “seismic shift” under the new rules: from the kicking game of the 80s and 90s, to the possession era, and how the two-point arc and new scoring have changed everything.
Plus: Tally on teen sensation Kobe McDonald and the hype around him.
