The Minister for Housing, Darragh O'Brien, came back to the tortoise shack for the first time this year for a full and pretty frank conversation on the many challenges the housing emergency has created.

1047. Why Are We Killing Nature Restoration?
Please join us at patreon.com/tortoiseshack
The Nature Restoration Regulation is the flagship legislative proposal of the Biodiversity Strategy. Yet if Fine Gael MEP's get there way, it'll never be more than words on a page. Joining us on the tortoise shack is Political Adviser with the Left Group in the European Parliament and one of the negotiators of the Proposal for a Regulation on Nature Restoration, Damien Thomson.
He busts scaremongering myths that are unfortunately getting reported as fact in many media outlets and explains how the framework would help countries like Ireland restore nature and usher in the Just Transition we've heard so much about. Why shouldn't we live in greener, cleaner and healthier spaces?
Please contact all Irish MEP's and let them know that you want this law implemented: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/ireland/en/your-meps

1033. From Darkness into Bleak
Please Join us at patreon.com/tortoiseshack
Listener favourite (and tortoise shack's Royal Correspondent), Professor Richard Murphy, rejoins us to talk about the state of UK politics post-local elections, the struggling economic environment that is pushing thousands into poverty and the insanity of the Central Banks across the globe who seem intent on continuing the policy of "beatings to continue until the public morale improves". Another cracker of a podcast with the Prof.

1027. Fixing the Housing Crisis – The View from Spain
Please join us at patreon.com/tortoiseshack
The Financial Times recently covered the "extraordinary" steps the Spanish government were taking to tackle their housing crisis. But are they as good as advertised and what, if anything, can Ireland learn from them?
Joining us to discuss this and the political polarisation in Spain are Madrid-based journalist, Eoghan Gilmartin and tortoise shack regular Prof Joe Haslam. We also talk bad banks, land banks and a little bit of Real Madrid history.
