Join me, Josef Lloyd - as I begin this episode in South Wales at the wonderful Wye Valley Sculpture Garden, where I wander through the stunning woodland garden with Gemma Kate Wood - artist, gardener, and the owner of this magical space. We stroll among carpets of snowdrops and striking sculptures as Gemma shares her passion for nature, creativity, and her unexpected love of rust, which brings a beautiful, weathered charm to her work.
Next, I visit Painswick Rococo Garden, the Cotswolds’ best-kept secret. I join volunteer Sue Steed, who takes me on a magical tour of this romantic garden - the only fully restored Rococo garden in the country. With its whimsical follies, sweeping views, and hidden corners, it’s a place that feels straight out of a fairytale.

In this episode, I take a winter wander through the Cotswolds, discovering what it takes to maintain a world-class snowdrop collection at Colesbourne Gardens. I meet owner Sir Henry Elwes and Head Gardener Katie Reynolds, who share insights into the care and history behind this extraordinary display. As for where their rarest snowdrops are hidden… well, you’ll have to listen to find out!
Next, I visit Cerney House Gardens, where owner Nick Angus welcomes me for a wander through his stunning garden. Among its many surprises, I come across giant Roman snails, a fascinating feature of the landscape. Nick then leads me into the heart of his walled garden, a peaceful haven filled with character, history, and seasonal beauty.
