In recent years, many parishes have taken part in conversations shaped by the Synodal Pathway — moments of listening, sharing, and learning how to walk together more intentionally as Church. The word synod means “journeying along a common path,” but anyone who has experienced these conversations knows that genuine listening and finding shared understanding can be both meaningful and challenging.
In this episode, we explore a creative and surprisingly practical approach to strengthening communication and collaboration: using LEGO® as a tool for reflection, dialogue, and shared insight. Through a hands-on process sometimes described as “thinking with the hands,” participants discover new ways to express ideas, listen more deeply, and appreciate one another’s perspectives — all essential elements of a synodal Church.
Our guest is Julia Reeve, founder of Play to Connect (https://www.playtoconnect.co.uk/), a National Teaching Fellow and accredited LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator. With decades of experience across Further Education, Higher Education, and Criminal Justice settings, Julia designs playful, multisensory workshops rooted in inclusion, empathy, and mental well-being. Drawing on her background in fashion design as well as education, she helps communities explore complex ideas by literally building them together.
Join us as we discover how something as simple as a handful of bricks can open new pathways for listening, connection, and collaboration — and support us in continuing the shared journey of walking together as Church.
