It wasn’t a house anyone would call haunted. Just an older place where people gathered, had dinner, and didn’t think too much about the space around them.

It was late, the kind of quiet that settles in when everything around you has finally slowed down. As they walked to the car, one of them noticed someone standing in the alley nearby.
