Questions about how to negotiate the worlds of faith and the academic study of the Bible pushed her to pursue an MA in Near Eastern Studies and a Master of Divinity degree. Ultimately her journey took her to Yale University, where her interest in the history of the interpretation of the Bible was solidified. Under the direction of Brevard Childs, she wrote her doctoral thesis on the history of Old Testament studies as they developed at Princeton Seminary from 1812 to 1929.At Yale in a class on apocalyptic literature, Marion met her husband Glen. Glen was from Calgary, but they returned to Toronto to teach at Wycliffe College. With Glen as residence dean, they lived at the College while raising three children and continuing to teach.Marion’s interests in the Old Testament are broad. She teaches a variety of courses, including Introduction to the Old Testament, Jeremiah, Psalms, Old Testament Theology, Reading Scripture through the Ages, Bad Boys and Bad Girls in the Bible, the Books of Esther and Ruth, and Women Interpreters of the Bible. Lewis and Owen Barfield, and British poets such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge. He was a Bye-Fellow and chaplain of Girton College, Cambridge and associate chaplain of St. Edward King and Martyr, Cambridge.  On several occasions, he has taught as visiting faculty at several colleges and universities in England and North America.Guite is the author of five books of poetry, including two chapter books and three full-length collections, as well as several books on Christian faith and theology. Guite has a decisively simple, formalist style in poems, many of which are sonnets, and he stated that his aim is to “be profound without ceasing to be beautiful”. Guite performs as a singer and guitarist fronting the Cambridgeshire-based blues, rhythm and blues, and rock band Mystery Train. He also has a YouTube channel where he shares his passions and musings with his viewers.   • Season 11: Episode 3 | Darren Young | Is This Generation the Most Spiritually Open?
    Watch or listen to Darren Young, President of Power to Change (P2C) and a member of our CBS Board of Directors, being interviewed by Joanna la Fleur. In this episode, Darren shares about the great impact of Scripture on his life - in guiding his decisions and steps, and how it now guides his leadership of P2C. It's a pivotal time and Darren is seeing a rising generation who are spiritually open to the Gospel. He was captured by the mission of God through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC), as a student of Simon Fraser University. It was there that God captured him with a life burden to help people know Jesus. He joined staff with CCC and for the next eight years he served as the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Leadership Development and Human Resources. In 2006, God gripped Darren’s heart for the local church, where he spent the next 13 years preaching God’s Word, shepherding a congregation, and igniting people to evangelism at Town and Field Church in Langley, BC. During his time pastoring, he was heavily involved with Leadership Network (LN), and in 2019 he joined LN as the Chief Operation Officer, and then Acting CEO. In 2020 he also helped pioneer an organization called Executive Leadership Solutions. Darren returned to his roots in June of 2021, when God called him back to Power to Change (P2C) as President. Over the last four years, it has been Darren’s great joy to lead P2C into a new season of faithfully stewarding the mission that God entrusted to Power to Change so many years ago. Bishop Linda Adams served the Free Methodist Church in the US for 32 years and then was elected to serve as Bishop of the Free Methodist Church in Canada in 2024. In this episode she talks about walking alongside the Free Methodist Church to build connections and prioritize cross-cultural relationships across Canada, and how the Bible has equipped her to care for vulnerable children and fuels her mission.In this interview Linda and Lorna discuss:Going from strength to strength, like the pilgrims on the journey to Zion in Psalm 84, Linda shares that she has gotten stronger, feels like she knows Jesus better than she ever did and has as much energy for ministry as she did 20 years ago. The Bible equipped Linda to care for vulnerable children since she was a teen. There were Bible passages she couldn't get away from - especially those where Jesus welcomed and blessed the children like in Matthew 18:6 and Exodus 2:2-10.Walking alongside the Free Methodist Church, Linda is building connections and prioritizing cross-cultural relationships across Canada's diverse landscape. The Bible fuels her challenging work by starting every morning with Seedbed Daily Text and a hymn, and uses a Bible app to read and/or listen to Scripture. Although Church attendance is declining, Linda sees hope. She sees God still moving in people's lives and churches being re-energized.Linda gives advice to the younger people and encourages them to trust God to help them find their path. She explains that God made you and knows you best and loves you most.
