The Art of Home: A Podcast for Homemakers

Spring has sprung with new life, new growth and a new kind of podcast episode on The Art of Home. Today, I am bringing you the first seasonal ramble with myself and Jessica Fisher. 
We kick off this relaxed, mostly unscripted, conversation with some spring-related icebreaker questions, then we chat books and simple seasonal cooking (including lunch prep, yogurt, homemade roast beef, flavored syrups and more). 
We cover what we are watching, or not watching, current favorite things, spring home projects and what we are doing to age with grace as 2 menopausal 50-something-year-olds. We even touch a bit on Easter traditions. Like I said, it's a ramble. I hope you enjoy coming along with us!

Carrie Sullivan has been keeping a home for over 20 years through changing seasons of motherhood, working outside the home, full-time homemaking, grief and growing faith. Now, in her 50’s, with kids nearing launch-time, Carrie has come to view homemaking as a meaningful vocation and true calling from God. 
We cover all the usual territory of homemaking strengths, weaknesses, expectations, hospitality, and more. 
And as a little bonus, I have some historical homemaking hints for you from a fun early 20th century etiquette guide, Don'ts for Wives.

After over 3 decades of homemaking, I have found there to be 3 Essential Tools and a handful of miscellaneous supplies which will equip you for any type of cleaning in your home; both regular maintenance and seasonal. 
I will give you a bit of history on the top 3 as well as information on how to choose the best tools. 
Then I want to spend a little time talking about helpers; how to engage the family, when to seek professional help and a few tips for helping yourself to enjoy seasonal cleaning.

We are kicking off Season 28 today a brand new Homemaker Portrait! 
I'm starting this episode with some notes from you out of the mail bag, what to expect this season on the podcast and magazine updates!!
After those updates, I am chatting with my good friend, Kathlena Rule, about her experience of full time homemaking over the past 42 years. Kathlena’s concept of home was shaped by 2 godly parents and a life of constant moving. She loves the change that moving brings and the fact that there are always new people to meet. She and husband, Ed, lived several years abroad and that experience profoundly shaped her homemaking. 
We discuss all of the usual material-strengths, weaknesses, expectations and how to set and keep priorities. Throughout our conversation you’ll hear this theme; the home is a tool, an extension of the people who live there. The people are the point. Home and homemaking provide opportunity and space for unhurried fellowship leading to flourishing relationships with others and with Christ.
