We are kicking off our Summer 2026 season today with an article from our brand new resource, Homemaker’s Journal. 
It's a seasonal magazine, but so much more than a magazine. Filled with encouraging, inspirational articles from over a dozen homemakers, this publication is meant to be a tool to help you learn and grow as you practice your art of keeping a home and to keep a record of your homemaking.

I am chatting with In-the-Trenches homemaker and fellow podcaster, Hannah Stewart, of the Sugar and Spice Mom Life Podcast. 
Growing up, Hannah said she never wanted to get married or have kids, but God used the hospitable families of the church she attended in college to birth in her heart a desire for marriage, motherhood and homemaking. 
She left home with plenty of skills, but without the correct mindset regarding the emotional and relational work of the homemaker; nor was she prepared for the lack of cultural respect for her chosen occupation. 
She’s had to let go of many expectations and her tendency towards perfectionism, but in the letting go, God is teaching her the powerful impact of the tone she sets through her homemaking. 
We cover all the usual ground, so get ready for an hour full of trials and triumphs, tips, recipes and hard-won homemaking wisdom from this delightful and very insightful guest.

We’ve reached then end of this season of The Art of Home and the end of our spring cleaning series. We have covered motivations for spring cleaning from history, modern sources and the Bible and we discussed tools and supplies. Then we utilized the top-down cleaning method to work our way from the surfaces over head, to the vertical surfaces like walls/windows and doors, then curtains and linens, and in our last spring cleaning episode we covered appliances, furniture and the forgotten. Today we will wrap things up with everything under foot…floors, rugs and carpets.
