Dr. Séamus Power is an Associate Professor of Cultural Psychology at the University of Copenhagen. He is a visiting senior fellow in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science and has been a visiting associate professor at Cornell University and the University of Chicago. His work has been featured in numerous international media outlets including The Guardian, The New York Times, Scientific American, and The Atlantic. He is the author of Inequality: A View from Manywheres.

Dr. George Boss is Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at Queen Mary University of London. He is a political theorist working on human needs, voice, poverty, and Marx. His first book is Marx and the Politics of Need.

We discuss why people tend to talk about needs as moral facts. We explore Marxist interpretations of needs, and we focus on Dr. Boss’ reinterpretation of Marx’s concept of “need”.
