Episode 211: Taylor Twellman Previews the World Cup and Shinnecock

    03/06/2026 | 49 mins.
How big of a golf sicko is Apple TV’s lead soccer analyst Taylor Twellman? In 2018, Twellman—who retired in 2010 as MLS's all-time leading scorer and was at that point at ESPN—unleashed what is still the most viral rant in US soccer history when the Americans failed to make the World Cup. What most don’t know is that the next day he was set to embark on a four-day golf bender through Shinnecock Hills, National Golf Links, Sebonack and Friar's Head. The rant made him an overnight sensation, and forced Twellman to stay in the studio. But as he explains to TGJ’s Travis Hill, he’s so hooked on golf that he’ll forever regret missing the trip. In this episode, Twellman discusses the importance of golf in his life, breaks down how the USMNT can make a run at the 2026 World Cup, and explains why Argentina is the Bryson DeChambeau of this summer’s competition.

    21/05/2026 | 1h 3 mins.
Jimmy Roberts doesn't remember stats. But he never forgets people’s stories, and after three decades as one of golf's most recognizable voices, he has more than most. On this episode of the TGJ Podcast, he joins host Tom Coyne to talk about a remarkable career and what it takes to tell a great story. Along the way, he shares some of his favorites about Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Urban Meyer, two U.S. presidents, a speedskating gold medalist and a man he helped free from prison.

Episode 209: How To Win At Aronimink

    07/05/2026 | 55 mins.
Nobody knows Aronimink like Director of Golf Jeff Kiddie. He's spent the last 18 years preparing one of golf's oldest clubs for big moments. Now comes the biggest yet: the 2026 PGA Championship, returning to the Philadelphia area for the first time since Gary Player hoisted the Wanamaker Trophy at Aronimink in 1962. On this episode of the TGJ Podcast, Kiddie joins host Tom Coyne in the clubhouse to preview the tournament: what makes this par-70 Donald Ross layout so uniquely demanding, what the 2017 Gil Hanse restoration returned to the course, and a hole-by-hole breakdown that reveals where the championship will be won and lost.

    Episode 208: Quiet, Please

    27/04/2026 | 37 mins.
It's been a fast and noisy start to the 2026 golf season. So, today we're offering a change of pace. Last year, TGJ Editor Tom Coyne escaped to the woods of New York to ruminate on what golf has given him. A week later, he emerged with the foundation of a new book. His words, paired with primary photography from Kohjiro Kinno and Christian Hafer, make up Quiet, Please—a 250-page, large-format hardcover book from The Golfer's Journal. It is, in every way, the opposite of your feed. In this episode, Coyne reflects on the creative process and reads a selection of passages that celebrate the stillness and beauty this game provides—if you listen closely. Find a peaceful spot, pour yourself something dark, and settle in. You deserve this.

Episode 207: Ludvig Åberg Breaks Down Every Hole at Augusta National

    03/04/2026 | 1h 13 mins.
Most players need years to process Augusta National’s intricacies. Ludvig Åberg already has a runner up and a top 10 in his first two Masters. We sat down with the Swedish phenom ahead to examine every hole at Augusta National. From the opening tee shot to the approach on 18, Åberg breaks down the shots he sees—where to miss, where not to miss, what the wind does, preferred ball flights, how the grain lies, and the nuances in the greens you can’t see on TV.

Along the way, Åberg explains why he flights almost every iron shot at Augusta, reveals the one shot he'd like a mulligan on, explains what makes Scottie Scheffler so brilliant, and shares his theory on the mythical pull of Rae's Creek. Plus: his Lego obsession, his Champions Dinner menu, and the age-old debate of Method Man vs. ABBA.
