- Measles cases are soaring across Europe and the US — and Adrian and Jeremy are blaming one thing: falling MMR uptake fuelled by anti-vax “research” on Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
So should Ireland follow Italy and bring in consequences for parents who refuse routine childhood vaccines? No MMR, no creche… fines… even bans from school?
Callers don’t hold back. One says it’s child neglect. Another says it’s personal freedom and nobody’s business. We hear from parents who refused every vaccine, others who are pro-vax but against “blackmail”, and a full-on shouting match about autism, trust, and conspiracy rabbit holes. - It’s the weekend “Get It Off Your Chest” edition of Opinions Matter — no callers, no heavy debates… just Adrian and Jeremy having the craic and airing a few grievances.
First up: a trip down memory lane to Abrakebabra — including the legendary “rabbit food” burger saga, a man asleep in his burger, and a story that ends with a thrown meal and a bruised ego.
Then it’s Jeremy’s Mam and her love of “joints” ... then there's Jeremy's ultimate "ick" - a 42-year-old man who insists on calling his partner his “girlfriend" - Reform UK say social housing should go to British-born workers first — and foreign nationals should be pushed down the list. So Adrian and Jeremy ask: should Ireland copy it? Should being Irish-born matter more than citizenship, tax paid, or years spent here?
The calls are messy, heated and brutally honest. From “House the Irish First” and claims the system is being manipulated… to the Croatian/Polish examples of people who’ve worked here their whole lives and could still be treated as “blow-ins”.
Is it common sense prioritising locals… or discrimination dressed up as housing policy? - Kids as young as 10 in Ballymun allegedly killed a bird with a firework — and a Dublin councillor is calling for a major clampdown on illegal fireworks.
Adrian and Jeremy ask the big question: do we need tougher enforcement and more seizures… or should fireworks be legal here so responsible adults don’t have to “go up north” to buy them?
Is this about banning fireworks… or banning scumbag behaviour? - Do women feel safe in Ireland anymore? Regular listener Ciara joins Adrian and Jeremy after a string of incidents that have left her terrified — from a taxi driver changing the route mid-journey, to harassment on the street and on the beach.
But the conversation quickly turns explosive when she says her bad experiences have involved foreign men, and she’s now wary of getting into taxis at all.
Is she speaking from trauma and instinct… or is it racism, as one furious caller argues?
With live callers split down the middle, the debate hits immigration, taxi regulation, “freedom of speech”, and why men and women experience fear so differently.
