    In this episode, Dr Mary Claire Kennedy, Academic Integrity Lead at the University of Limerick, is in conversation with Dr Katherine Whitehurst, Director of Teaching and Learning and a Senior Lecturer at Mary Immaculate College. Mary-Claire and Katherine discuss the Navigating the New Frontier: Generative AI and Academic Integrity conference (14 & 15 Oct 2024). This was an internationally esteemed hybrid event hosted in partnership by UL, Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), and in association with NAIN and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

    In this episode I talk with recent MIC BEd graduates Orlaith O’Brien and Róisín Kelly who are now working as primary school teachers. Róisín and Orlaith both completed a specialism in global citizenship education during their degrees and share their experiences of learning about and teaching GCE themselves. Listen to them discuss how engaging with GCE helped them to broaden their understanding of the world and learn how to communicate complex issues in child-friendly ways.

During the discussion, Ben focuses on how human rights connects with education and offers ideas around opportunities and challenges within our current system.

Niamh is an Assistant Professor in Ethical and Intercultural Education in DCU Institute of Education and Ryma, a first-generation migrant, is a primary school teacher, facilitator and activist based in Dublin. Niamh and Ryma discuss what antiracism and interculturalism mean and provide lots of hopeful, practical tips and ideas for how to create inclusive classrooms.
