Beamish Cup final preview with Ger McCarthy

    14/04/2026 | 34 mins.
ON THIS podcast, we build up to this year’s Beamish Cup final with friend of the show Ger McCarthy.

Drinagh Rangers take on Ardfield in Turner’s Cross this Sunday (12.30pm) in what should be a fascinating encounter.

Drinagh are looking for their first Beamish Cup triumph since 2018 while Ardfield are looking to avenge last year’s final defeat to Clonakilty Soccer Club.

Both clubs are in fantastic form too, Drinagh earned Premier Division and Parkway Hotel/Maybury Coaches Cup glory while Ardfield already have the Championship Cup in the bag with the Championship title also a possibility.

Ardfield may be underdogs but they beat Drinagh in the Beamish Cup semi-final 3-1 last season and will take that confidence into Sunday.
It should be an entertaining decider and is a staple in the West Cork League calendar.

    08/04/2026 | 46 mins.
ON THIS week's podcast, we’re joined by Drinagh Rangers women’s team manager Mike Doolan after they completed the West Cork League and Cup double.

Rangers defeated Lyre Rovers in the cup decider in Brinny 3-2 to put a seal on a remarkable campaign.

Drinagh only let in six goals across league and cup competitions as their defence held firm. Their attack was just as good as they struck three vital cup final goals.

Doolan gives his thoughts on their season, the women’s game and Drinagh Rangers being on a high as a club.

Also on the show, we look back at Cork’s disappointing national hurling league final defeat to Limerick.

Championship is the focus now for Ben O’Connor’s men and a clash against Tipperary on Sunday, April 19th.

For John Cleary’s footballers, their championship throws-in this Sunday as they welcome Limerick to Páirc Uí Chaoimh (2pm).

Cork will be favourites to reach the Munster final with only Division 4 sides standing in their way.
