Kilbrittain’s Bertie Butler on their Munster JHC win
ON THIS week's podcast, we chat to Kilbrittain forward Bertie Butler after the club won the Munster Junior Hurling Championship title over Kilrossanty (2-17 to 0-9).They became the first West Cork club to win a hurling provincial championship of any kind since 2005. Butler himself scored 1-3 in the final while Mark Hickey got 1-9.This has been a marvelous year for Kilbrittain, having won their seventh championship match on the spin in their hurling journey.An All-Ireland semi-final is still to be played a week before Christmas so the magic may not be done yet and Butler, as shown in the interview, is thrilled.Kilmacabea were another club to win silverware over the weekend as they saw off Donoughmore in the Junior A Football Championship county final, 1-14 to 1-7.This has been a long time coming but finally the men from Leap and Glandore broke their duck and will be playing in the county Premier Junior Football Championship in 2026.All this and more on this week's Star Sport Podcast. Kilmacabea manager Donie O’Donovan on their upcoming county final
ON THIS week's podcast, we chat to Kilmacabea manager Donie O’Donovan before their county Junior A Football Championship final against Donoughmore.The Leap club’s second county final appearance at junior A level will get underway at 3.30pm in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.This has been a great campaign for Kilmacs so far, having secured their second Carbery title in-a-row but will now be looking for further glory.The carrot of achieving promotion to the county premier junior grade is on offer too so a massive game for the club.Also on the show, we discuss Kilbrittain who are in Munster JHC final action against Kilrossanty of Waterford (1pm) on Saturday in Mallow.Joe Ryan’s side are the only Cork hurling club remaining in the provincial championship and want to take the crown to the west.There was also big West Cork involvement in the St Finbarrs’ camogie team who clinched their first ever Munster senior title.All this and more on this week's Star Sport Podcast. Libby Coppinger and Saoirse McCarthy win All-Star awards
ON THIS week's podcast, we look back at Libby Coppinger and Saoirse McCarthy receiving 2025 camogie All-Stars.St Colum’s player Coppinger won her third in four seasons while Courcey Rovers’ McCarthy won her fourth in-a-row.Other Cork winners included Ashling Thompson, Amy O’Connor and Laura Hayes.McCarthy missed out on the Player of the Year award, despite getting nominated for a third successive season, as Galway’s Aoife Donohue collected the award.We couldn’t miss giving the Irish soccer team a mention after their heroics in seeing off Portugal and Hungary to clinch a World Cup play-off in March.A huge boost to the nation after Troy Parrott hit five goals in two games. Clara Crowley and Siofra Patwell on Ballinascarthy camogie rise
ON THIS week's podcast, we are joined by Ballinascarthy camogie players Clara Crowley and Siofra Patwell after the club won their second county title-in-a-row.After winning the Premier Junior Camogie Championship title in 2024, they followed it up with an Intermediate Camogie Championship victory in 2025 after beating Sliabh Rua in the final.Bal will play second tier county camogie (premier intermediate) in 2026 joining fellow West Cork clubs Newcestown, Enniskeane and Clonakilty.Crowley and Patwell were also part of the Carbery camogie team that competed in the senior championship this year, emphasising their quality along with the rest of their teammates.Also on the show, we look back at an action-packed weekend as Ilen Rovers drew their Intermediate A Football Championship final against Ballinora, meaning a replay will be required.Bandon hurlers are made to wait for their county final to take place once again after Aghabullogue won their football final against Uibh Laoire.There were also county championship wins for Kilmacabea, Ibane Gaels and Glengarriff.All this and more on this week's Star Sport Podcast.
