ON THIS week’s podcast, we are joined by Courcey Rovers’ Linda Collins as they prepare for a SE Systems Cork senior camogie semi-final against Blackrock this Sunday (2pm) in MTU Cork.

Collins is only back from her travels abroad this year and has already impressed in a campaign where the Ballinspittle club have won four games on the trot.

In their 5-14 to 0-16 quarter-final win over St Catherine’s, Collins struck an astonishing 4-5 from play.

Courceys are strong in other areas too as Saoirse McCarthy, Fiona Keating and Jacinta Crowley provide more quality.

The club are on the hunt for their first final appearance since they won the championship in 2020 but before that Collins joined us on the podcast.

Also on the show, we look back at a great weekend of hurling for Barryroe and Argideen Rangers as well as looking forward to huge football quarter-final ties involving Newcestown, Clonakilty, Carbery, St Finbarr’s, Castlehaven and Nemo Rangers.

ON THIS week’s podcast, we reflect on the final round of action in the McCarthy Insurance Group Cork football championships with former Cork footballer John Hayes.

Clonakilty, Newcestown and Castlehaven all advanced to the knockout stage of the premier senior championship.

Clon and Newcestown face each other on Saturday, September 26th in Dunmanway while Castlehaven come up against Nemo Rangers on Sunday, 27th in Clonakilty.

The Carbery divisional side’s clash with St Finbarr’s will form part of a double header in Clonakilty on Sunday, 27th.

In senior A, Carbery Rangers progressed straight to the semi-finals where they’ll meet either Kanturk or Kilshannig but Dohenys and O’Donovan Rossa exited the fray.

The latter face into a relegation play-off against Clyda Rovers on Saturday, 26th in Macroom.

In premier intermediate, Bantry Blues avoided a relegation match by the skin of their teeth but Castletownbere are dragged into it against Glanmire on Saturday, 26th in Ballinacarriga.

Intermediate A and premier junior saw championship exits for Ilen Rovers, Gabriel Rangers, Bandon, Kilmacabea and Urhan, with the Beara club into a relegation clash with Na Piarsaigh on Saturday, 26th in Church Cross.

Hurling takes centre stage this weekend coming as premier junior quarter-finals top the bill. Barryroe face Cloughduv in Enniskeane this Saturday (4pm) while Argideen Rangers battle out with Ballygarvan on Sunday (3.30pm) in Ballinspittle.

RCM Tarmacadam Carbery hurling quarter-finals take place too with Kilbree, Diarmuid Ó Mathúnas, Dohenys and Bandon looking to advance.

ON THIS week’s podcast, we catch up with Caoimhe Murphy after Munster’s Vodafone Interprovincial victory, beating Leinster 14-5 in the final.

The Rossmore woman has had an amazing rise. From picking up a rugby ball in Autumn 2023 to earning call-ups for Munster.

Murphy has also achieved success with UL Bohemians in the All-Ireland League this year as well as starting for the Ireland U21s against Canada back in March.

She has had a great last three years from the beginning of her journey with Clonakilty RFC but Murphy, who played camogie with Kilbree, isn’t done with success yet.

Also on the show, we reflect on Castlehaven’s Clóna Milk Carbery U21A football final victory over Clonakilty.

A first triumph at this grade for 16 years for Castlehaven and it meant a lot to the club.

We chatted to captain Micheál Maguire, manager Dinny Cahalane and selector John McGuckin after their win.

Ibane Gaels were crowned best in the west too after the Argideen Rangers and Barryroe amalgamation beat Bandon in the Clóna Milk Carbery U21A hurling final.

ON THIS week’s podcast, we have a bumper episode with three guests with masters football and harness racing garnering our attention.

We are joined by a couple of the Cork masters football crew in manager Tony Leahy and player Flor Crowley.

Leahy, a St Finbarr’s man, was in charge of the Cork U21s winning the All-Ireland in 2007 so has big game experience.

There is plenty of West Cork involvement in the Cork football masters team that will face London in the All-Ireland semi-final this Saturday (2pm) in Annanough GAA club at Vicarstown in Laois.

The local players involved are St Oliver Plunkett’s man John Paul O’Driscoll, Bandon’s Conor Sugrue, Flor Crowley from O’Donovan Rossa, Flor O’Sullivan of Goleen and Urhan man Flor Harrington.

Galway and Antrim face off on the other side of the draw.

The Cork masters have called upon the likes of 2010 All-Ireland winners Pearse O’Neill, Nicholas Murphy and John Miskella in the last couple of years and the likes of Bernard Brogan, Alan Brogan and Stephen O’Neill have played in this over 40 grade.

Also on the show, we welcome on Baltimore harness racing driver Eoin Murphy, who represents Ireland at the European Apprentice Drivers Championship in Dundalk Stadium this Sunday.

Murphy is hoping to become the first-ever Irish driver to win the event.

This ten-race programme includes 12 drivers from 12 different countries, with Murphy rubbing shoulders with 2025 champion Lynus Lannoo from Belgium.

After great success in the past two years and locally at events like the Red John Memorial, the Baltimore man is looking to make an impact on the European stage.

We look back on the weekend’s action in the county football championships too as Clonakilty and Castlehaven drew in the pick of the games.
