Hello, and unrelentingly welcome to Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club! Come and join in as President Tony takes us gently by the hooves and leads us on a gleeful ramble around two special destinations chosen entirely at random with the use of his enchanted bingo machine. As ever, the omniscient voice of Sir Stephen Fry is on hand to steer a course of cohesion between the schoals of stupidity.First stop is destination number 527: celestial navigation. Can our idiots three find a path through this knotty subject?. They give it a stab, then we canter on to destination 148: liberalism, eclecticism, traditionalism. Hope the team remembered to bring their dictionaries today. After getting bogged down in theory they squelch damply to destination 810: American Literature in English. Finally, something our team know a little bit about! They blow off some-much needed steam and then scramble down the garden path to Tony’s shed, where the brand new coffee machine has been binned in favour of a good old-fashioned kettle and a teabag in a mug. If nothing else, it’ll put tannin on your chest.Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club is a free-associating conversation, sometimes involving very special gusts. "Liza Minelli Did It With The Pet Shop Boys"
Hello, and unremittingly welcome to Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club! Come and join us first-footing our way through the opening of the New Year on a whistle-stop tour of two special destinations chosen entirely at random with the use of his enchanted bingo machine. As ever, the omniscient voice of the newly-elevated Sir Stephen Fry is on hand to derive a modicum of moderate sense from a mulligatawny of muddle.First stop is destination number 254: parish government and administration. If there’s one thing we all love in Britain, it’s a bit of local government, right guys? Right? And once we’ve exhausted the options for hilarity that come from regional administration, we hobble on to destination 865: literature, 1800- . What an intriguing elision that dash represents. Will we be discussing literature into the indefinite future? Well, we can stick with it until we get bored, and then we’ll gambol freshly down the garden path to Tony’s shed, where we’ll be starting the Hogmanay season with a wee dram of something strong. If nothing else, it’s something different from the usual hootenanny.Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club is a free-associating conversation, sometimes involving very special gusts. "I Had A Canary And A Gas Mask"
Hello, and unfalteringly welcome to Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club! Come and join in as President Tony takes us gently by the tines and leads us on a whistle-stop tour of two special destinations chosen entirely at random with the use of his enchanted bingo machine. As ever, the omniscient voice of Stephen Fry is on hand to delineate the deranged and explicate the extemporaneous. First stop is destination number 574: biology. That’s certainly a wide area, there’ll be no stopping the lads with this one. After many a biological byway, the bingo machine comes to rescue us and drag us on to destination 413: dictionaries. Somewhat less wide-ranging, this one. Let’s hope it’s not just an excuse for the old bastards to whinge on about apostrophes. Once they’ve got that one out of their system, let’s slope back to the shed and share a Bovril, whatever the hell that is. If nothing else a brisk walk gets the blood pumping, eh? Hello, and welcome to Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club! Come and join in as President Tony takes us gently by the grips and leads us on a whistle-stop tour of two special destinations chosen entirely at random with the use of his enchanted bingo machine. As ever, the omniscient voice of Stephen Fry is on hand to fish out a line sense from the river of gabble.First stop is destination number 145: sensationalism. Finally, an opportunity for tales of tabloid excess from Tony’s glittering showbiz career! If only he could remember any. Then we lurch on to destination 538: magnetism. Can our three charisma vacuums summon up any thoughts on magnetism, personal or otherwise? Hear them wrestle with physics for a while and then slip giddilly down the garden path to Tony’s shed, where we’ll be boiling our billies Australia-fashion. If nothing else, it’ll keep the chill from your bones.Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club is a free-associating conversation, sometimes involving very special gusts. Hacker T Dog-"I Don't Mind Slumming It"
Hello, and irrevocably welcome to Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club! We’re hugely excited to have another special guest on the podcast, and this is an extra-exciting one, because today we’re welcoming our first ever non-human rambler. That’s right cockers, today’s guest is none other than global hyperstar and international playhound Hacker T Dog! The presence of a giant of CBBC seems to have calmed us down because this is probably our least sweary episode to date and may even be suitable for young ears (but don’t take our word for it without it checking for yourself before exposing any little ones to our particular brand of non-holds-barred gibberish). First stop is destination number 170: ethics. Luckily, Hacker is not only a hugely talented TV presenter, he’s also something of a philosopher, so this goes very smoothly. After solving all your moral conundrums in less time than it takes to listen to one episode of The Moral Maze, we head off to destination 128: humankind. That was a lucky roll of the balls for our first ever non-human guest to talk about! We learn to see ourselves from a canine perspective, and then we trot gently off to destination 394: Ural-Altaic Paleo-Siberian Dravidian. We’ll be honest, that was less lucky. Try again. This time we get to destination 554: Earth sciences of Europe. The panel can have a stab at this one with a globe-trotting hound on hand to help. Then we chuck in some Christmas chat and it’s back home for a juicy bone and all the trimmings. We hope you enjoy rambling with us in a winter wonderland!
