In a country that should have been filled with hope and possibility having just gained it's independence from a 800 year long coloniser, another sinister, dark and oppressive force was all to ready to take the place of oppressor. That force was the Catholic Church.

Despite being a Catholic country during the Witch Trials of the 14th - 17th century, Ireland did not fall victim to the same Witch Hunt hysteria as the rest of Europe. In this video, I explore why that was.

Correction:
- I mention in the video that Christianity in Europe did not incorporate pagan beliefs and practices which is untrue. However, Ireland continued with this trend of incorporating paganism into its version of Christianity for far longer than the rest of Europe as our form of Christianity initially developed outside of the control of the Roman Church.
