Creatively Me

On this Friday's episode, Daniel is thrilled to be chatting to Hollywood camera operator Dan Gamble.

Dan’s work in the camera department has been seen across a plethora of beloved blockbusters since 2011. From "Snow White and the Huntsman", "Skyfall" and "Fast and Furious", he’s worked on various units, operating cutting edge equipment to bring viewers unforgettable cinematic moments.

His first film "Captain America: The First Avenger", was just the first of many Marvel pictures he’d end up working on. In recent years he’s lent his talent to "Black Widow", "The Marvels", "Doctor Strange", "Deadpool and Wolverine", and the big one, the recently released "Spider-Man Brand New Day".

On today’s episode, Dan will breakdown his influences and early interest in cameras. He’ll explain how a Hollywood blockbuster is shot, from the type of cameras used to how many are rolling at any one time, as well as what it was like capturing the acclaimed new action sequences in "Spider-Man Brand New Day".

Furthermore, expect some fun stories from behind the scenes of the latest Spidey adventure, from filming in Glasgow to his reaction to fan speculation and theories.

Joining Daniel on today’s episode of "Creatively Me" is Irish actress, writer and activist, Evanna Lynch.
Evanna’s career began when at fourteen years old she landed the role of Luna Lovegood in the "Harry Potter" film franchise. Beloved by millions of fans around the world for her charming portrayal of the quirky Ravenclaw student, Evanna starred in the final four films of the series.
Beyond the walls of Hogwarts School, Evanna’s artistry has continued to grow in compelling and often unexpected ways. 
In 2021, Evanna released a memoir "The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting: The Tragedy and Glory of Growing Up", where she details personal struggles and her artistic explorations. She’s also a respected activist, particularly on the subject of animal rights.
She’s continued to flex her acting muscles in film, both features and shorts, as well as theatre, where she’s undertaken roles in acclaimed productions such as "Disco Pigs" and most recently "Pool (No Water)".
During "Pool (No Water)"’s run, a play performed in an empty swimming pool in the Metropole Hotel, through the Everyman Theatre as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, I got the chance to meet with Evanna in person, a conversation I was eagerly anticipating.
During today’s conversation, Evanna will reflect on her creative journey to date, from Harry Potter to theatre endeavours. She’ll share her own observations on her relationship with her work and well-being and will discuss the complex subject matters that draw her in as an artist and a performer.

Maureen’s singular career in casting spans both film and theatre, and she’s been behind casting decisions for plenty of beloved properties, from Irish and international.
In 1990, Maureen became the head of casting at the Abbey Theatre Dublin, Over the years she has worked on beloved projects from Love/Hate, the Irish music film “Once” and the Cillian Murphy starrer “Small Things Like These”. This Friday's episode sees Daniel get the wonderful opportunity to speak to photographer and filmmaker Sam Jones. Across a plethora of different mediums throughout a varied career, Sam has poured creativity and passion into every project to create long lasting impacts.
From 2013-2020 Sam hosted the documentary series "Off Camera", where he conducted conversations with stars that include Daniel Radcliffe, Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain.
As a director for advertisements, he recently directed a series of commercials for "OnePlus" featuring Robert Downey Jr, as well as music videos for artists like the Foo Fighters.
Perhaps notable is his work as a photographer. Sam’s portraits of stars like Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Bob Dylan and Jack Nicholson to name only a few have appeared on the covers on renowned publications from Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Esquire, GQ, Time, Entertainment Weekly and Men’s Journal. 
On today’s episode, Sam will be sharing incredible anecdotes from his career, such as photographing the legendary Heath Ledger during the promotion of "Brokeback Mountain".
He’ll discuss what it was like meeting and capturing images of then President Barack Obama and how his early years shaped and defined what he would ultimately go on to excel at.
