Guys, hear us out. We’ve decided to pitch movie theaters this week. That’s right. We’re building our dream palaces of cinema. First we gab about the current ongoing “crisis” in the business of movie theaters. What works. What doesn’t. Then we hammer out a pitch for our dream theaters to Mr. Movieplex himself. Deciding on everything from the name, amount of screens, concession choices, and method of corporal punishment for talking and texting. If you’ve ever been to a movie theater…this is the only podcast for you.

Jack Black - 2009 (with Grant Oliphint)
Minecraft is sweeping the nation so we thought it's about damn time we brought a man in this elevator who's well known for his work as a substitute teacher, mafioso shark, Blockbuster video aficionado, luchador, and now a man named Steve...none other than Jack Black. We're pitching to Jack in 2009. Some would call that a career apex. But with the #1 movie in America, maybe it's right now. Let's discuss!

A WORKING MAN and Jason Statham
We thought we were retired...turns out we're back for one last pod. Kidding. But it is time to honor a man who continues to come out of retirement and inflict cinematic pain any way he sees fit. Mechanic. Transporter. Beekeeper. Hobbs (or Shaw, not too sure). And now WORKING MAN. None other than Jason Statham. First we break down Statham's new David Ayer movie - A Working Man. Then, we lock into the career of a man who's roundhouse kicked and throat stabbed his way into our hearts. Finally, we pitch to Statham two movies that he could've or can make any damn time he'd like. Lionsgate is down for all of it.

Gene Hackman - 1977
Today on mic, we're celebrating (pitching to) one of the greatest to ever do it. Bank robber, detective, surveillance specialist, Memphis lawyer, nuclear submarine caption, Indiana high school basketball coach, and mayor of Mooseport GENE HACKMAN in the year 1977. But first a really long tangent about Hoosiers. Then we chat about Hackman's presence in New Hollywood films such as Bonnie and Clyde, The Conversation, Night Moves, and of course The French Connection (7:53). Will breaks down how these performances differ from his later career and approach to some of my Hackman core texts such as The Firm, The Firm, Crimson Tide, and The Firm. Then we pitch to Gene in the year 1977. Smack in the middle of a changing Hollywood (52:53).oh and some real SMUT at the tail end (1:09:08) FOLLOW US:https://www.instagram.com/theelevatorpitchpod/

BLACK BAG and Steven Soderbergh
One of my damn heroes joins us in the elevator tonight. Director of Out of Sight, Oceans 11-13, Sex, Lies, AND Videotape, and now BLACK BAG...Steven Sodergoat. We talk about his new espionage thriller over a couple glasses of Singani 63 (you'll also learn what that is) and discuss whether or not a spy thriller directed by Sodergoat and starring Michael Fassbender was a dream I had or if it actually happened. THEN we chop it up about some of Steven's other work. The good, the good, and the really fucking good. FINALLY we pitch Sodergoat movies in the year 2005, hot off Oceans Twelve...a desert island motion picture for yours truly. This is a really good podcast.
1. We pick one name in movies.
2. We pick one year of their career.
3. We pitch this special somebody what they should have done that year.
Welcome to Elevator Pitch. We're glad you're here. New Episodes every Monday (unless we're busy and don't want to do it)
