The idea that science is necessarily at odds with faith is so deeply ensconced in the minds of Westerners that it is almost impossible to convince the average person that it is not so. Yet, historians of science know that the whole narrative is fabricated. In the late 19th century two men wrote books advancing this myth, which had been brewing for a couple of centuries. The spirit of the age at the turn of the century was delusionally optimistic about the ability of man, free from constraints of religion, to solve poverty, end wars, and usher in a utopia fit for John Lennon’s song, Imagine. The problem, however, is that without the foundational beliefs of religion, especially Christianity, science cannot be done. In this video, Mark and Jeff discuss the myth and expose it for what it is.

In this episode, Mark interviews Jeff about the recent training our interns have received on Jehovah’s Witnesses in preparation for their annual Memorial Supper, in which only the anointed class, the 144,000 most dedicated JWs of all time, can partake of communion. This is a public celebration, and Jeff and the interns studied JW doctrine in advance before attending the supper and engaging JWs with the gospel.
