Hello!
Today, I’m joined by Jamila Rizvi. Jamila is an author, public speaker, and Deputy Managing Director of Future Women, where she champions gender equality across Australian workplaces.
At just 31, and a first-time mum to her son Rafi, Jamila was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour. What followed were countless medical appointments, two brain surgeries, and 36 rounds of radiation. Today, the tumour is the size of half a grain of rice, a tiny physical reminder of a life-altering chapter that reshaped her perspective in profound ways.
In this episode, we also talk about building a career inside government at a young age, navigating ambition alongside motherhood, and the power of asking for help from friends and family during the hardest seasons of life.
If you'd like to support Jamila, head to the All About Women Festival on International Women's Day, this Sunday, the 8th of March.
This conversation touches on themes of body image and disordered eating, if you or are loved needs support, please contact The Butterfly Foundation 1800 33 4673.
