NNC Podcast 14 “Where is the Papal Conclave in the Bible?” 05.07.2025
Even though some non-Catholics will admit the primacy of the Bishop of Rome as "primus inter pares" (first among equals), only the Catholic Church holds the doctrine of Papal Supremacy. But why, when the word “pope” isn’t even in the Bible? It is true the word ‘pope’ isn’t in the Bible, but there are lots of words that aren’t in the Bible – words like “Trinity,” “Incarnation,” “Ascension,” and so on. Yet our separated brethren will readily agree that those concepts are Scriptural. Hence the rather provocative title, “Where is the Papal Conclave in the Bible?” Because even though you will not find those precise words in Scripture, you will find the inspired basis for the papacy, the apostolic succession, and the true meaning of papal infallibility.

Where is Celibacy in the Bible? NNC Podcast 12 04.17.2025
The biblical understanding of clerical celibacy is grounded in the example of Christ, the teachings of St. Paul, the historical practices of the early Church, and the spiritual benefits that arise from this commitment. Clerical celibacy is not merely a rule but a profound expression of love, dedication, and service to God and His people. It allows priests to live out their vocation with a singular focus, embodying the sacrificial love of Christ and serving as a witness to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Where is the Catholic Priesthood in the Bible? NNC Podcast 11 04.06.2025
The Catholic understanding of the ministerial priesthood is deeply rooted in Scripture and Tradition and centers around several key themes: the establishment of the priesthood in the Old Testament, the fulfillment of that priesthood in Christ, and the continuation of Christ's priestly ministry through the Apostles and their successors. All the Christian communities that can trace themselves to Christ and the Apostles (Latin and Eastern Rite Catholics as well as the Orthodox communities) have a hierarchical priesthood. In other words, 75% of the world's Christians agree that many verses in the New Testament clearly demonstrate a Christian hierarchy of bishops, priests, and deacons.

Where does the Bible Say the Mass is a Sacrifice? NNC Podcast 10 03.19.2025
As promised in the last podcast, we look at the Biblical evidence for the Catholic understanding of the Holy Mass as a true sacrifice. Including why we should not view Christ’s sacrifice on the cross in isolation from the Last Supper -- or for that matter, from the rest of His redemptive work. As well as what it means when Christ says He offered His sacrifice, “once for all.”

Good information about the Catholic faith is more readily available today than ever before. Yet, there is still widespread confusion about Catholic belief and practice. Officially, it is the job of the Catholic bishops to clear up such confusion. But in the current reality, lay Catholics need to take it upon themselves to know, share, and defend their faith.Every week Catholic author and speaker Matthew Arnold gives clear and simple witness to the Catholic Faith without obscuring, complicating, or watering down the exclusive claims of Christ and His Church. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said, “I am the way and the truth and the life… and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 14.6; 8.32). And that is no nonsense.
