On September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer boarded United Airlines Flight 93, never knowing that before the day was over, he would become one of the most remembered passengers of that terrible day.Todd Beamer was a husband, father, businessman, and Christian who was traveling aboard Flight 93 when it was hijacked as part of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Discover the remarkable story of Annie Sherwood Hawks, the Christian wife, mother, poet, and hymnwriter who gave the church the beloved hymn “I Need Thee Every Hour.”Born in 1835 in Hoosick, New York, Annie Hawks developed a love for reading and writing at an early age. Her first poem was published when she was only fourteen, and she continued writing throughout her life.After marrying Charles Hial Hawks and moving to Brooklyn, Annie became a member of Hanson Place Baptist Church. There she came under the influence of her pastor, Dr. Robert Lowry, the Baptist pastor, hymnwriter, and composer who encouraged her to begin writing hymns.In 1872, Annie wrote the words to “I Need Thee Every Hour.” The hymn came not from a time of tragedy, but during a season when she was especially conscious of the presence and love of Christ. Isobel Kuhn was a missionary to China whose life and ministry became closely connected with the Lisu people of southwest China. Along with her husband, John Kuhn, she served with the China Inland Mission from 1928 to 1954, spending years among the Lisu and witnessing the work of God among a people she came to love deeply.
