Celebrating an icon: Defender, 10 years on (feat. Greg King and Ian Arthur)

    28/1/2026 | 1h 16 mins.
In this very special episode, Martin and Steve are joined by LRM contributor Greg King and friend of LRM, Ian Arthur from Howden Classic, sponsor of our Autojumble and LRM Live events.
In a look back at how the Land Rover scene has changed since the mighty L316 Defender went out of production 10 years ago, ex-employee of Land Rover, Greg King imparts some touching moments from the final day of the factory, and Steve Miller shares his thoughts on how the day played out ten years on.
Ian Arthur explains how his Defender 110 Station Wagon is an irreplaceable part of his family, and how it recently escaped the salvage yard after using a Mercedes as a crumple zone.
The guys also share what Defenders mean to them, how they first came into real contact with this iconic model all those years ago and how they've become ingrained in their lives to this day.
The movement of Defenders from an off-road toy or workhorse has changed how the Land Rover scene looks for ever. But the future looks bright!

Defender Dakar victory, buying modified Land Rovers and no oil pressure

    21/1/2026 | 58 mins.
In this week's episode, Martin and Steve talk Dakar following Defender's excellent result in the Stock class at the 2026 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia and the huge positive effect the result has had for owners of all ages of Land Rover.
Martin explains his 200Tdi conversion woes – the engine he's spent the last few months fitting has no oil pressure when warm, and the issue he's found is worst-case scenario.
There's a trio of listener's questions, Feature of the Week and Product of the Week – send any questions or feedback to [email protected] – we love to hear from you.
    Enjoy the episode.

Drew Wright on modified Series, winch challenges, acoustic matting and flammable P38s

    14/1/2026 | 1h 4 mins.
In this week's episode, Martin is at Wright Off Road HQ to chat to Drew Wright about all things motorsport, starting with a look around his very cool 88-inch Series challenge truck which is decked out with portal axles, competition winches, Super Swamper Bogger tyres and loads more trick kit that made it competitive in the winch challenge scene – much to the chagrin of owners of newer coil-sprung machines.
Drew also imparts his knowledge on his acoustic matting systems, and how the idea of fitting heavy matting to utility Land Rovers makes a big difference to noise levels inside the cab.
There's a journey through Drew's Land Rover history, including a Range Rover P38 fire, and a rusty Range Rover L322 which he's considering reviving.

200Tdi conversion finished, a big sign and Defender's been out of production for 10 years

    07/1/2026 | 56 mins.
In this week's episode, Martin and Steve are back on the Salmon Sofa to waffle on about Land Rovers. Martin has finished his One Ten's 200Tdi engine conversion, and is keen to test it.
He's also gone and picked up a piece of Land Rover memorabilia that has been living with a friend for over 12 years, and is very happy to have it back. Got any cool Land Rover shed decorations? Send us an email on [email protected]
Steve wonders about the best way to wire up his Penman trailer's lights to finally get rid of the trailer board off the back, and the pair discuss the possibility of a road trip to Norway this year.
Thanks as always for listening – we love to get your feedback, so either drop us a line on [email protected] or leave a rating or review on your preferred streaming platform. Enjoy the episode.

Strata Florida on road tyres, ratcheting breaker bars and a Happy New Year

    31/12/2025 | 53 mins.
In this week's podcast, the boys are in Martin's kitchen to chat all things Land Rover, cheese board, fig roll and Yorkshire pudding.
With the festive food chat out of the way, Martin reports on his trip to Wales in the Discovery XXXV (on Pirelli Scorpion road tyres...) and it's all good news.
There's also speculation on why Ingenium engines fail in some models more than others, and a project update to enjoy.
As always, we hope you enjoy the episode and if you could take a minute to leave a rating or review, we'd really appreciate it. Happy New Year!
