Tara Erickson & Roxy Striar react to Drag Me to Hell (2009), the gleefully twisted supernatural horror film directed by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man) that blends outrageous scares, gross-out gags, and dark humor into a modern cult classic. Returning to his horror roots, Raimi delivers a relentless, fast-paced nightmare that’s as funny as it is horrifying.
The film follows ambitious loan officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman – Big Fish, Matchstick Men), whose life spirals into terror after she denies an extension to an elderly woman, Mrs. Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver – They, Carnivàle). In retaliation, Ganush places a horrifying curse on Christine, condemning her to three days of escalating supernatural torment before being literally dragged to Hell. As Christine desperately searches for a way to break the curse, she’s supported by her skeptical boyfriend Clay Dalton (Justin Long – Jeepers Creepers, Accepted), whose disbelief only heightens the film’s tension and tragic irony.
