UNEQUAL SEQUEL - S11 E01 - STEVE BUGEJA~

This week on Unequal Sequel, Dave & Rich are joined by comedian and writer Steve Bugeja for another round of Best, Worst & Dream Sequel!

Steve is an award-winning comedian and writer whose credits include his sitcom Buffering, which he co-created and co-wrote with Iain Stirling, alongside his stand-up comedy and TV writing work. But can he bring that same creative instinct to the world of movie sequels?

Steve joins us to pick his Best Sequel, Worst Sequel and Dream Sequel — celebrating the follow-ups that got it right, the ones that left us wondering why they bothered, and the films he'd love to see made.

Will Steve's choices win over Dave & Rich, or will we be heading for a disagreement worthy of its own sequel?

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE-THE SOCIAL RECKONING ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re heading back into the world of social media, whistle blowers and very uncomfortable questions with The Social Reckoning.

Following in the footsteps of The Social Network, this next chapter turns its attention to the consequences of our increasingly connected world. But while the first film explored the creation of Facebook, this time we're looking at the impact of social media and the people caught up in its fallout.

Does The Social Reckoning have something meaningful to say about the world we live in, or is this a sequel trying to tackle a subject that's already moved on? Can it capture the same sharp storytelling and cultural impact as its predecessor, or does it struggle to live up to the original?

Dave & Rich dive into the story, the performances and the big questions at the heart of the film, debating whether this is a worthy follow-up or a sequel that should have stayed offline.

We had some extra time with Michael Marden, producer of Parenting Hell with Rob Beckett & Josh Widdicombe, so naturally we weren’t going to let him escape that easily.

Following his Unequal Prequel appearance, Michael joins Dave & Rich for an extra chat about all things prequels. We also delve into his love of the London Film Festival and the rather impressive occasion when he watched six different films in the cinema in one day.

It’s a little more Michael, a little more film chat and a few more questions we didn’t get time for in the main episode.

And there’s something else… 👀

We also drop a huge announcement about Unequal Sequel joining Patreon. Well, the rumours are true! Listen to the episode for all the details and find out what we’ve got planned.

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE-PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re dusting off the spell books and returning to the world of Practical Magic 2. 🧙‍♀️

Nearly 30 years after Sally and Gillian Owens first charmed audiences, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back as the witchy sisters, alongside a new generation of Owens women. But with an ancient family curse threatening to unravel everything, it seems the Owens family still haven't quite got the hang of living a normal life.

Does this long-awaited sequel cast a spell of its own, or is it relying on nostalgia and a generous sprinkling of 90s magic? We’re diving into the returning characters, the new faces, the family curse and whether there’s still enough magic left in this franchise to justify another trip down the rabbit hole.

Can Practical Magic 2 conjure up the same charm as the original, or should some things simply be left in the cauldron?

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.
