Batman v Superman (Ultimate Edition) Review | 10 Years Later… Was It Overhated?

    23/03/2026 | 2h 33 mins.
It’s been 10 years since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters… but has time been kind to one of the most divisive DC Comics movies ever made?

In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we revisit the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman to answer the big question: Is this movie actually better than we remember… or still a flawed foundation for the DC Universe?

    Main Discussion starts at 28:00

    We break down everything:

    • Why the Ultimate Edition is superior to the theatrical cut

    • The ambitious vision of Zack Snyder and the early DCEU

    • The legendary showdown between Batman and Superman

    • The stunning comic book panel-style cinematography

    • The brutal and grounded fight choreography

    • The controversial portrayal of Lex Luthor

    • The convoluted plot and Lex’s master plan

    • The dark, brooding tone that never lets up

    • The introduction of Wonder Woman

    • The Doomsday design and final battle

    • Why this movie tried to do WAY too much too soon

    • Our final thoughts: underrated or rightfully criticized?

While opinions on the panel are split, we all agree that Batman v Superman is one of the most ambitious yet flawed superhero movies ever made.

    Cold Open (First 28 Minutes)

Before diving into DC’s biggest clash…

We react to the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer and break down EVERYTHING we spotted:

    • Appearances from The Punisher, Tarantula, The Hand, and even Bruce Banner

    • The possibility of seeing Man-Spider on the big screen

    • Concerns about the movie being overstuffed with characters

    • Why we’re still excited despite potential issues

If you love Marvel theories, MCU speculation, and Spider-Man breakdowns, don’t miss this segment.

Blankman (1994) Throwback Review | UNDERRATED Superhero Comedy

    13/03/2026 | 1h 43 mins.
Before the MCU, before the modern DC Comics movie universe, and long before superhero movies dominated Hollywood… there was Blankman (1994).

In this episode of the SuperHero Homies Throwback Series, we revisit the cult 90s superhero comedy Blankman, starring Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier, to see whether this forgotten comic book-style movie still holds up today.

Our Throwback episodes celebrate movies that are 25+ years old, revisiting them with humor, nostalgia, and a modern pop culture perspective.

This time, opinions among the Homies are split. Two of us absolutely loved revisiting this hilarious 90s comedy superhero movie, while the other two weren’t quite as convinced. Either way, the conversation is full of laughs and deep dives into what makes this film such a unique part of superhero movie history.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • The full Blankman (1994) movie review

    • Damon Wayans’ performance as the quirky DIY superhero

    • The comedic chemistry between Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier

    • The action, gadgets, and ridiculous superhero inventions

    • The plot, villains, and funniest moments in the movie

    • Whether the humor still works today

    • The movie’s cultural relevance in the 1990s

    • Why having a Black-led superhero comedy in the 90s without stereotypes was significant

    • Whether Blankman deserves cult classic status

Even though opinions are divided, this throwback review is packed with funny moments, nostalgic discussion, and plenty of superhero movie commentary.

Cold Open Discussion (First 20 Minutes)

Before diving into our Blankman review, we kick things off with a discussion about Resident Evil Requiem.

    We talk about:

    • Why we’re enjoying the game so much

    • How it blends survival horror with action gameplay

    • Our thoughts on the Resident Evil franchise overall

    • Classic entries like Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 7, and Resident Evil: Code Veronica

If you’re a fan of Resident Evil games, survival horror, and video game discussions, you’ll enjoy the opening segment.

The Phantom (1996) Review | Forgotten Comic Book Movie or Cult Classic? | Throwback Series

    07/03/2026 | 2h 5 mins.
Before the MCU, before the modern wave of DC Comics movies, and long before superhero films dominated the box office… there was The Phantom (1996).

In this episode of the SuperHero Homies Throwback Series, we revisit the cult comic book movie The Phantom starring Billy Zane and Treat Williams to see if this forgotten superhero film holds up today… or if it belongs deep in the jungle with the Skull Cave.

Our Throwback episodes celebrate older movies (usually 25+ years old) with humor, nostalgia, and a fun pop culture discussion. This time, a fan of the show suggested we review The Phantom, and it turned out to be an absolute blast.

Even though we don’t think this 90s superhero movie is technically good, it ended up being one of the funniest and most entertaining watches with friends we’ve had in a while.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • The full plot breakdown of The Phantom (1996)

    • The movie’s roots in the classic Phantom comic strip and comic books

    • Billy Zane’s performance as the legendary purple-suited hero

    • Treat Williams’ over-the-top villain energy

    • The action scenes, adventure tone, and jungle setting

    • The unintentionally hilarious dialogue

    • Why the cinematography and action choreography feel so dated

    • The strange charm that makes this movie oddly enjoyable

    • Our favorite ridiculous and memorable moments

Even with its awkward dialogue, lackluster plot, stiff action scenes, and questionable filmmaking choices, The Phantom somehow manages to deliver a weirdly charming comic book adventure that’s perfect for a group watch with friends.

But before we jump into this 90s superhero time capsule…

    Cold Open Topics Include:

    • Our thoughts on the new Lanterns TV series trailer

    • Our favorite moments from DC Comics’ Doomsday Clock storyline

    • The infamous Ace Ventura rhino prop being put up for sale

    • The recent bizarre Jim Carrey controversy circulating online
