Redline Republic | Automotive and Car Culture Talk

Back to just the two of us for Episode 40!
This week we're talking about the difference between a fast car and a fun car, whether the days of cheap shitboxes are well and truly gone, and how much fun you can actually have in a €500 car.
We also come up with a new €500 car challenge and finally reveal our plans to fly to Norway, buy an old Volvo and attempt to drive it all the way home to Ireland. Somehow the Nürburgring, Russia and the Arctic Circle all end up being considered along the way.
As always, plenty of questionable ideas, stories and absolute shite talk.
Let us know in the comments — what would you bring on a road trip across Europe in an old Volvo?

This week on Redline Republic, we're joined by Aaron from MD Motorsport!
We chat about how Aaron got started as a mechanic, his obsession with Hondas, building performance engines and turning his passion into his own business.
From his early days messing around with cars to building serious motorsport engines, Aaron shares plenty of stories, lessons learned along the way and some strong opinions on the Irish car scene.
We also get into the rising prices of Hondas, the reality of running your own garage, social media and whether working on cars for a living takes the enjoyment out of your own projects.
Plenty of laughs, tangents and stories in this one!

This week we're debating replica cars and whether they're ever worth the same money as the genuine thing. We also attempt to put together our top 10 cars since 2000, with a bit of help needed from the listeners.
Dan nearly swaps the Amarok for a C35 Laurel, Badger develops an interest in Ladas, and we chat about a few questionable car purchases along the way.
Let us know what you think of replicas and what cars deserve a spot in our top 10!

This week we're talking VTEC Vs. 20 valve, the cars we'd use to turn someone into a car person, T22 Avensis, the Irish car scene and plenty of listener questions along the way.

+This week we somehow end up having a full debate over whether diesel cars can actually be classed as sports cars, with the GTD taking most of the abuse.
We also talk about modern cars having far too much going on, loud exhausts apparently causing anxiety, what the first thing you do after buying a car is, and a few other completely unnecessary tangents along the way.
As always, let us know who you agree with because one of us is definitely going to get told they’re wrong.
