Today’s episode is about learned helplessness, a term coined by psychologist Martin Seligman in the 70’s. It refers to the state of helplessness after repeated negative experiences that a person has not been able to exit from. Seligman also went on to research and teach about learned optimism, the opposite to learned helplessness. With little control, lack of agency and resources, I see this phenomenon of learned helplessness lot in daughters-in-law so let’s talk about it. I’ll share more about what it is, how it occurs and what helps you to overcome it.To join the DIL’s membership click here:https://spiritualpsychologist.co.uk/we-married-the-familyOr book in for a session:https://spiritualpsychologist.co.uk/You can find me on IG: @spiritual.psychologist and e-mail me:
