Fourteen years with type 2 diabetes.
Reliance on insulin.
And now? Her doctor says she no longer needs insulin, and her metformin dose has been cut in half.
How did this transformation begin?
Someone suggested she listen to a podcast while walking.
That podcast happened to be the Diabetes Remission Roadmap.
In this solo episode, Cory shares an incredible listener-turned-client success story and explores a concept he calls delusional optimism.
Not pretending everything is fine.
Not ignoring your diagnosis.
Not believing you can wish your way to better blood sugar.
But believing that your current circumstances don't have to be your permanent circumstances.
Along the way, Cory shares a ping-pong lesson with his six-year-old son, a surprising turnaround on the softball field, and why the stories we tell ourselves can determine whether we even give ourselves a chance to succeed.
You'll learn:
Why believing change is possible often comes before having proof
How years of struggling with type 2 diabetes can shape your expectations
The difference between optimism and wishful thinking
Why small wins build the confidence to keep going
How building muscle, moving more, and improving nutrition turn belief into measurable progress
Why one bad blood sugar reading doesn't mean you've failed
Why diabetes remission isn't guaranteed—but meaningful improvement may still be possible
You don't have to believe you'll win every point. You just have to believe you're capable of winning the next one.
Maybe your A1C is high. Maybe you're taking multiple medications. Maybe you've tried everything and feel like nothing works.
That might be your reality today.
It doesn't have to be your reality forever.
Ready to take control of your health and stop settling for “managed” diabetes?
Grab your earbuds and listen in.

You hear about “gut health” everywhere.
Take a probiotic. Eat fermented foods. Add more fiber. Buy a greens powder. Try an elimination diet.
But what does gut health actually mean, and what does any of it have to do with blood sugar, weight loss, and metabolic health?
In this episode of the Diabetes Remission Roadmap, Cory sits down with Elizabeth Aylor, a Holistic Nutritionist, GAPS Practitioner, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P), Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, and kinesiology graduate. Elizabeth works with functional lab testing and has helped thousands of women struggling with gut, hormonal, and metabolic concerns.
And for Elizabeth, this work is personal. In her early 20s, she dealt with an eating disorder and multiple gut infections, including H. pylori and candida, experiences that ultimately helped shape the work she does today.
We start with the basics: What exactly is an unhealthy gut?
Because it isn't always just bloating, gas, constipation, or running to the bathroom.
From there, we dig into the potential connections between gut health and metabolic health, why two people can respond very differently to the same diet, and why blindly following keto, carnivore, vegan, low-FODMAP, or any other diet, may miss the bigger picture.
We also discuss:
Why gut health is about more than taking a probiotic
Gut health, insulin resistance, blood sugar, and weight loss
Why Cory and Elizabeth agree that muscle matters
Protein, fiber, carbs, and pairing foods for better blood sugar
Keto, carnivore, vegan, intermittent fasting, and the diet wars
Why the “best” nutrition plan needs to be sustainable
Elizabeth's perspective on IBS and looking beyond symptoms
Why she wants people to stop buying random gut-health supplements
The danger of copying someone else's gut protocol from social media
Why feeling better on a restrictive diet doesn't necessarily answer why you were having symptoms in the first place
If you've ever felt like you're doing everything “right”: eating better, exercising, trying supplements, and your body still isn't responding the way you expected, this conversation will give you some new questions to consider.
Most importantly: don't get overwhelmed by all the noise.

25/09/2026 | 19 mins.If you want early access to future episodes AND the chance to submit your own questions for Rapid Fire Friday, join us inside the Type Two Remission Room: https://tinyurl.com/3a4ta86d
Can walking for just 5 minutes after a meal really lower your blood sugar?
Does vacuuming, doing the dishes, or picking up toys count as exercise?
And is chickpea or lentil pasta actually better for your blood sugar than regular pasta?
Brian is BACK for another Rapid Fire Friday, and we're answering three practical questions that all come down to one bigger idea:
You don't have to do everything perfectly. You need to find the minimum effective dose—and then pay attention to whether it's actually working.
In this episode, we cover:
Are 5-minute walks after meals really enough?
Why five minutes isn't magic—but it may be enough to get your muscles working and help with post-meal blood sugar. And if five turns into 10 or 15? Even better.
Does housework count as movement?
Vacuuming, dishes, yard work, walking around the house—it all beats sitting on the couch. But there's an important difference between moving and assuming that movement is enough to accomplish all of your health goals.
Is lentil or chickpea pasta actually better for blood sugar?
Our favorite answer: compared to what? We talk protein, fiber, satiety, “health halos,” ingredient labels—and why the only way to know how a food affects YOUR blood sugar is to pay attention to what actually happens when you eat it.
Plus, Cory talks youth basketball, Brian returns from newborn life, and somehow we end up discussing our first-ever one-star review.
If you're overwhelmed by everything you're supposedly “supposed” to do for type 2 diabetes, this episode is your reminder:
Start small. Move more. Pay attention to your results. Then build from there.

You know walking after meals can help your blood sugar.
You know you should prioritize protein, build muscle, sleep better, and make healthier food choices.
So…why is it still so hard to actually DO those things consistently?
Maybe you don't need more information.
Maybe you need to change the story you tell yourself about who you are.
In this episode of the Diabetes Remission Roadmap, Cory sits down with Dr. Kim Foster, former family physician, bestselling author of Redesigning You, TEDx speaker, and expert in identity-based behavior change.
After nearly 20 years in medicine, Dr. Foster noticed something fascinating: she could give the same health advice to two intelligent, motivated patients. One would transform their life. The other would come back months later frustrated that nothing had changed.
What was different?
We dig into why statements like:
"I've always had a sweet tooth."
"I'm not an exercise person."
"I always quit."
"This stuff never works for me."
…aren't just descriptions. They can become instructions for how you behave.
You'll learn why jumping straight from "I'm unhealthy" to "I'm a health nut" usually doesn't work, how to create a believable bridge identity, and why tiny wins become evidence that you're capable of becoming someone different.
We also talk about what happens when the new identity gets tested.
If you keep telling yourself, "I know what I need to do. I just can't seem to stick with it," this episode is for you.
Your past may explain the story you've been telling yourself.
It doesn't have to write the next chapter.

These were the words our client, Kelly, heard from her doctor while she was working through a gestational diabetes diagnosis many years ago.
In this emotional episode, we talk with our client Kelly about breaking out of the A1C dread cycle and rebuilding confidence after years of being told type 2 diabetes is inevitable. Kelly shares the small, targeted changes that finally moved her blood sugar trends, built her strength, and gave her hope without extreme rules even after years of working with doctors and dieticians.
Kelly shares her journey, including;
• Fear, frustration, and the “threat of medication” shaping the patient-doctor relationship
• CGM data driving anxiety without a clear plan to act on trends
• Why “eat better and exercise more” fails when it becomes restriction and endless cardio
• Stacking small wins: movement around meals, exercise snacks, and targeted strength training
• Eating for satiety to reduce snacking and constant glucose challenges
• Fasted workouts supported by hydration and electrolytes
• Progress markers beyond weight: inches, energy, digestion, sleep, and confidence
• Dawn phenomenon improvements and faster post-meal recovery
• Handling surgery, illness, migraines, stress, and life events without giving up
If you have been caught in the undercurrent of overwhelm that diabetes can bring, we know that Kelly’s story will be a beacon of hope and inspiration.
