Quin Kirchner, Douglas McCombs, Brian J Sulpizio, and Andrew Trim from Yr Knives are here to discuss Begin Yr Singing, some of their individual pursuits and other collaborators, the lengths I might go to to surprise and impress Doug, how they became friends and familiar with each other in Chicago, a memorable performance tackling ZZ Top songs, recording with Nick Broste and setting up in a linear fashion in the studio, almost as if they were playing a show, the touring they’ve done with the Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis and an open letter to keep such tours happening, the song “White Gladys,” orcas, and yachts, writing new songs, other future plans, and much more.

Shane Ghostkeeper returns to discuss the new Ghostkeeper album, Balloon Moon, Alberta opting out of Daylight saving time, his busy schedule as a filmmaker and cinematic actor, sharing these pursuits with his young son and wife, why music was surprisingly his second passion, the enduring resonance of obscure films he’s only seen once on late night TV as a kid, the roles he’s often offered and why he’s selective about accepting them, how acting has impacted him as a dynamically powerful singer on this new album, why he booked a recording session without any completed songs ready to go, what inspired him to get a band back together for it, what’s next for Ghostkeeper, other future plans, and much more.

James Brandon Lewis returns to discuss Calling Antonín, his well-deserved, award-winning 2026, how William Parker got him involved in a special project with the Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theater Company and how their productions are exactly what they sound like, studying the life and work of the nineteenth century Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, why he paid special attention to the album artwork, liner notes, and music on this album, structuring records to have the audio analog of opening and closing movie credits, also paying tribute to the poet Paul Laurence Dunbar via an imagined historical meeting, pondering being prolific and taking a break, upcoming shows, other future plans, and much more.
