Deep Dive: Irish comedy special with Roger O'Sullivan and Ailish McCarthy

    16/02/2026 | 32 mins.
It's a mini Irish comedy special! Irish comedian Roger O'Sullivan on his award-winning show Fekken; and Ailish McCarthy on turning her quest for Arts Council funding into a Scene and Heard show.

Roger won the Comedian's Choice Newcomer of the Year award at the Edinburgh Fringe last year - he's touring in April and as you'll hear his show taps into gaming nostalgia and what it's like living in Ireland today.

When Ailish McCarthy discovered that comedy wasn't officially funded by the Arts Council, she set off on a three-year campaign to rectify that. She explains why she's bringing a new show about what happened to the Scene & Heard festival.

Big thanks to Roger and Ailish for chatting to us.

You can find tickets for Roger's upcoming dates here.

And for Ailish's Scene & Heard date at Smock Alley here.
