Healing The Spirit: Astrology, Archetypes & Artmaking

“Who you are is never a problem. You never have to change who you are.
If you know that something is coming from your core, and there are people around you who makes that a problem – this is not something to solve within yourself.
This is a matter of you recognizing that in that moment, when other people seemingly can’t understand you, it’s because they can’t understand themselves.”
This is the core of the message I wanted to convey in this episode.
When I hear people talk about the conflict between their individual dreams and the collective, I hear the underlying illusion of separation.
In Truth, we are never separate. We are always entangled with one another – influencing, evolving, and showing each other the way towards growth.
Under an intensely Martial sky, it’s easy to forget that we’re part of a collective body that’s trying to move the story along in our own ways.
May we never forget how beautiful and essential our individual uniqueness is.
And may we never forget how our individual emanation contributes to the collective unfolding.

What spiritual lessons does Aries teach us?
What might Aries energy show us about showing up more fully in the face of the heat, intensity, and speed of our human experiences?
I wanted to come on and share a realization that dropped in for me right after recording the April episode.
Aries can be an uncomfortable energy to work with. When life invites us to move into the unknown, or to dance at a tempo that’s quicker than our comfort zone, it can be easy to lose the calm, grounded posture we’ve worked hard to cultivate – especially when one is used to conflating presence with a slower, more measured tempo.
The cardinal fire of Aries helps us recognize the gap between what we’re genuinely drawn to and rigid identity constructs that hold us back. It shows us where our ideas of being tethered, grounded, or regulated are rooted in performance rather than moment-by-moment truth.
For most of my life, I resist Aries energy because I was scared of being irresponsible.
But when I recognize that I’m a vessel for cosmic intelligence that always flows through, true power and freedom become available without the need to constantly prove myself.

What intervention is present in my current reality? What isn’t going according to plan? And how might that be good for me?
April asks us to step into Deep Faith.
The current of the river is strong and it looks intimidating. What normally feels second-nature to us suddenly seems out of our control.
In the quickening chaos of Aries energy, we’re reminded that wisdom doesn’t move at the pace of logic. Some of the most challenging transits of April are also the most generative – even if it doesn’t seem like it when it’s unfolding.
The work is to recognize that wisdom is cultivated over time. And it requires you to fully immerse in the experiences that life presents.
As the old saying goes, “You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day. Unless you’re too busy, then you should sit for an hour.”

“I’m most interested in writing a love letter to humanity. Even more so than travel.”
For many in the astrology and tarot world, Jeff Hinshaw is no stranger. You may know him through his deeply beloved podcast Cosmic Cousins or the Brooklyn Fools Tarot Journey.
Recently, Jeff and I caught up to discuss the process of creating Travel Tarot, in which Jeff collaborated with Lonely Planet and Studio Muti.
Specifically, we discussed how the deck deepened his embodied understanding of the Mercury retrograde phases and sharpened his awareness of creative synchronicities.
It’s an expansive deck that’s also gentle to the nervous system – an energetic signature I always feel whenever I interact with both Jeff as a person and his work. I know that this deck will expand many people’s relationship with the tarot, and the world at large.
Jeff also generously shared his current process as a practitioner and a human walking his path. We touched on the Saturn-Neptune in Aries conjunction (a big astro signature this year), as well as some early data on the magic of this deck.

Alright dear ones… In this episode, we get REAL.
Let’s start with the baseline premise that everyone who’s listening is doing The Work™️: practicing being honest with themselves and others, acknowledging our humanity and fallibility, and committing to being a kind human being who’s not intentionally trying to hurt people for no reason.
And yet, even when you do all the things, the inevitable will still happen.
You rub people off the wrong way.
Often when you least expected it.
You were simply living your life. Being you. Responding as you.
Then out of left field, something you said set them off.
Your perspective, your phrasing, your tone, something in the way you showed up activated them in ways that are unpleasant to everyone involved.
I must admit, I’m dissatisfied by the easier explanation of: “Oh, they’re just projecting onto you. Don’t worry about it.”
Because while that’s usually true, I know that this experience, like everything in life, is a fantastic opportunity for me to also look at my own stuff.
So, what’s going on here? Is there more than what meets the eye? How might we take this painful experience and tend to what is ours to process, while releasing that which aren’t?
